Antarctica is a continent that is known as a polar desert covered with ice and has only two seasons that is summer and winter. The continent is specified by its six months long day and night.

The most happening part of the water cycle that replenishes the fresh water on our earth is the rainfall that happens when clouds condense. Taking an account of the weather conditions of Antarctica, do you think it rains there?

Sneha planted three plants in three different pots namely E, D and S. She pours water twice a day into pot E such that the water overflows the pot. She pours a mug of water into pot D once in three days and a pot of water mug into pot S each day. She followed this routine for the next two months and observed the changes in the three plants. She noted that plants of pots D and E did not survive.

Why did plants D and E not survive? Can you explain?

Manav and Urja went to Jaisalmer on a school trip. They saw a vast expanse of sand all over but there were no water sources to be seen. They saw villagers carrying earthen pots on their heads to bring water from the far-off places. All the students realised the importance of water and thought of conserving water in their own regions. They all vowed to avoid water wastage and to make every possible effort to conserve it.

Pooja's community is experiencing water scarcity for quite some time now. Everyone is waiting in a queue near the municipal tap holding their empty containers. They need to wait for long period of times and people at the back end of the queue will not be able to get any water at all. Pooja, who has a hand pump at her home, will give access to the pump to such people so that everyone gets the water for there daily chores.

Ramesh set off on a journey through the sea in a boat with a small group of people. After five day of their journey, a large wave came and the boat flipped over, sending everyone into the water. Only Ramesh, somehow, was able to board the boat again; everyone else perished in this disaster. Ramesh has no boating experience. He spent a few days caught in the middle of the sea. There is no water to drink on the boat and as he got very thirsty, he drank seawater. He also managed to do fishing and eat those fish as he has gone starving.

"If Ramesh is caught for more than four days in between the sea, he will probably die even though he is fed on fish". Do you agree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer.
