Number of Attempts

  • You get 3 attempts for JEE Main and 2 attempts for JEE Advanced. 
  • To get admission in states like Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Gujarat, and Odisha, the age and the number of attempts will be the same as their respective state-level examinations. 

Nationality 

  • You must be a citizen of India. 
  • If you belong to Non-residential Indian (NRI), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO), you can apply for JEE Main 2023.

Number of Subjects for the Qualifying Examination

  • You should have studied subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in class 12 if you are applying for JEE Main Paper 2A and 2B. 

Date of Birth 

  • If you are a general category and OBC candidate whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1995, then you are eligible for JEE Main 2023. 
  • In the case of reserved categories like Scheduled, Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Persons with Disabilities (PwD) who are born on or after October 1, 1989, will be eligible. 
  • The Date of Birth provided by the University or secondary education board will be considered. 

Year of Appearing in Qualifying Examination 

  • If you have cleared class 12 or any equivalent exam in 2020, 2021, or 2022, you will be eligible for JEE Main 2023. 
  • If you are appearing for class 12 or a qualifying exam in 2023, then you are eligible for JEE Main 2023 exam. 

State of Eligibility

  • If you’re an Indian National who cleared class 12 or equivalent exam from Nepal or Bhutan, the state of eligibility will be determined based on the permanent address given in the candidate’s passport. 
  • The state code of Eligibility for OCI/PIO, if you pass class 12 or equivalent exam in India, is as per the Indian Nationals. However, OCI and PIOs passing the class 12 exam abroad are eligible for All India Quota Seats or other state quota seats in all NITs and CFTIs.
