Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) is the official education board in the state of Punjab. It is responsible for the dissemination of education across the state. PSEB came into existence under a legislative enactment in November 1969. PSEB has been created to develop and promote education in the state. PSEB prepares the curriculum, syllabus and academic activities of the classes. 

The board provides education through primary, middle, matriculation and senior secondary levels. Classes 1 to 7 are primary classes, classes 7 to 9 are middle school classes, Class 10 is the matriculation class, and 11 and 12 are senior secondary classes. The schools in Punjab that are affiliated with PSEB follow the rules and regulations set by the board. They implement the curriculum and textbooks the board prescribes for all their classes.

The PSEB grading system is the classification of result according to the marks secured by the students in their respective class’s final examination. The marking scheme helps students to know what grade they will guarantee on obtaining a certain percentage. Thus, the students need to know their classes’ Punjab Board grading system. The grading system is different for board and non-board examinations. In the tables below, we have provided the PSEB grading system for primary classes and Class 10 and 12.

PSEB Grading System for Primary Classes

The PSEB grading system for primary classes depends on the percentage scored by the students in the annual examination. The higher the marks, the higher the grade and remark will be. The grading system consists of grades from A* to D. A* is awarded to students who obtain more than 90% marks in the final exam, and the remark attached is Outstanding. Grade D is the lowest grade given to students with less than 35% in the exam. Such students must study harder, improve their understanding of the chapters, and perform well in the final examination.

PSEB Practical Exams

The Punjab School Education Board conducts practical exams as a part of the annual exam. A portion of the total marks is allocated to the practical examination. For classes 10 and 12, the practical examination is conducted nearly one month before the beginning of the theory examination. Students should take the practical exams seriously.
