Goa Police Constable 2023: Selection Process

The Goa Police conducts the Constable exams to hire eligible candidates for the position. Approximately 913 vacancies were available for the post of Goa Police Constable last year. Aspirants will need to make sure that they clear all the steps of the selection process so that they can qualify for the post. The selection process for the Goa Police Constable post is conducted in different stages. These include:

  • Written Exam
  • Physical Standards Test (PST)
  • Physical Efficiency Test or Physical Endurance Test

Goa Police Constable Selection Process: Physical Measurement

The candidates must have the required physical measurement as mentioned in the notification released by the Board. In some cases, the candidates may not be satisfied with the set criteria for Physical measurements. In such cases, the candidates have the right to file an appeal to the respective Board. However, they must use the prescribed Appeal Form available with the Appeal Board to make the plea. 

The physical measurements set as per last year are as follows:

Height of General Candidates:

  • Male- 168 cm (minimum)
  • Female- 157 cm (minimum)

Height for Ex-servicemen between the age of 30-40 years:

  • Male- 168 cm (minimum)
  • Female- 157 cm (minimum)

Heights for Ex-servicemen candidates above the age of 40 years:

  • Male- 168 cm (minimum)
  • Female- 157 cm (minimum)

Goa Police Constable Selection Process: Physical Efficiency Test

The Goa Police Constable Physical Efficiency Test, also known as PET, is one of the major qualifying tests. Various events are conducted to check the physical fitness of the applicant such as Long Jump, Running, High Jump and Shot Put. It is crucial for the candidates to qualify in all these events or they will be disqualified in the respective round. If any candidates fail in any particular event, they will not be allowed to move ahead to the next stage or event. The candidates do not have the right to file an appeal against disqualification in any of these events.

Goa Police Constable Selection Process: Written Examination

After qualifying for the Physical Efficiency Test round, the candidates will need to appear for the Written Examination of the Goa Police Constable exam. The passing mark for Goa Police Constable written exam is 35%. The written exam is held for 85 marks. The marks distribution for the same is as follows:

  • General Knowledge: 25 marks
  • General English: 25 marks
  • Essay: 15 marks
  • Maths: 20 marks

Goa Police Constable Selection Process: Oral Interview

Once the students qualify for the written examination, they will need to appear in the oral interview. The duration of the oral interview is 15 minutes. Candidates must ensure to answer diligently with all the necessary information. This will help them in qualifying for the round and eventually get selected for the post.
