NEST Counselling 2023: Check Schedule, Process and Fee

NEST 2023 exam will be conducted on June 24, 2023. Candidates who qualify for the entrance examination must participate in the NEST 2023 counselling rounds. The counselling and admission for NISER, Bhubaneswar and CBS Mumbai will occur at NISER, Bhubaneswar and CBS Bhubaneswar. The counselling of NEST 2023 will consist of two rounds. The second round of NEST counselling will be organised based on the vacant seats left in round one.

To participate in counselling, candidates must fill out the registration form. Candidates seeking admission to the 5-year Integrated MSc. course at NISER and the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences must apply for it before the last date. Latest Updates:
NEST 2023 Registration will start on February 27, 2023. The last date to fill out the application form is May 17, 2023.
– The authorities have announced NEST 2023 Exam Dates on the official website. The exam will be conducted on June 24, 2023.

NISER Counselling Process 2023

Candidates qualifying for the NEST 2023 exam will be able to participate in the counselling session conducted by the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and the University of Mumbai, Department of Atomic Energy-Centre of Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM–DAE CEBS).

The NISER 2023 counselling will be conducted online mode. The authorities will release the merit list for the candidates who have qualified the exam. Candidates who will meet the cut-off will be allowed to participate in the counselling session conducted for the admission and seat allotment process. For counselling, candidates will be asked to upload certain documents as part of the process of document verification. Here is a list of documents required.

Documents Required for NEST Counselling

  1. Class 12th mark sheet and certificate
  2. Class 10th mark sheet and certificate
  3. Category certificate
  4. Four passport-sized photograph
  5. Date of birth proof
  6. NEST scorecard

Withdrawal of Admission

Candidates who wish to withdraw the admission should do it before the end of second counselling round. To cancel the admission, the candidates will need to send an email to the concerned authorities with the details mentioned below:

  1. Name 
  2. Date of birth
  3. Roll number
  4. Application number
  5. Counselling venue
  6. Class 12th board exam percentage and other details

Points To Remember for the NISER Counselling

  1. The merit list for the candidates will be prepared by the participating institutes.
  2. To appear for the counselling, candidates will need to register at the taking part college respectively.
  3. The candidate will need to get the printout of the same form with personal details, medical details, undertakings etc.,
  4. The second round of counselling will be conducted only when there are vacant seats after the first round of counselling.
  5. The second round of counselling will be conducted on the respective website of the participating institutes.

NEST Counselling 2023: Check the Process

Based on their merit lists, all shortlisted candidates will be assigned seats in their respective courses at NISER and CEBS. It should be noted that the NEST exam does not have joint counselling. The NEST counselling procedure is:

  • All qualified candidates must first register on the exam/online institution’s counselling portal. Following that, candidates must download and print forms such as the Student Personal Details Undertaking signed by the student and parent/guardian, the Student Medical History, and the Format of Affidavit [anti-ragging] signed by the student and parent/guardian.
  • Counselling will continue until all seats are filled or the modified merit list is exhausted.
  • Following the first round of NEST counselling, each participating institute creates a waiting list.
  • Candidates whose names appear on the waiting list are admitted during the second round of counselling.
  • The second counselling session is not a joint session.
  • The attendance of all candidates present at all venues is considered during the counselling session. A modified merit list is created based on candidate attendance and the original merit list that was previously announced. Candidates are assigned seats at NISER and CBS based solely on the modified list.

Note: The General – EWS category will have seat reservations at CEBS only. Candidates claiming seats under the reserved category must provide documents issued by the competent authority.

Q: What is the seat intake at NISER and CEBS through NEST 2023?

Ans: Through NEST 2023, about 200 seats will be filled at NISER and around 57 seats will be filled at CEBS.
