AFCAT 2025
The Indian Air Force recruits the commissioned officers in Flying Branch and Ground Duty (technical and non-technical) via the AFCAT exam. The AFCAT is conducted twice a year. Candidates who aspire to secure their desired position in Indian Air Force departments must check the AFCAT exam pattern.
There are four sections in the AFCAT exam: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test sections. The online written test is divided into four sections namely, General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test.

Note the following important points regarding AFCAT exam pattern:
A total of 100 questions will be asked across the four sections.
The total time duration to attempt the tests is 2 hours or 120 minutes.
3 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
There will be a Negative Marking of -1 for each incorrect answer
No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
The exam will be conducted in the English language only.
AFCAT Subjects in EKT
Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) is mandatory for those candidates who wish to opt for Ground Duties (Technical) Posts. The details of EKT are as under:
There are four sections in Engineering Knowledge Test: Computer Science, Mechanical, and Electrical and Electronics.
The total number of questions for all three sections is 50.
Candidates will be awarded 3 marks on each correct answer.
AFCAT Exam Pattern 2025
Call letters will be sent to all the candidates who qualify for the AFCAT/EKT 2025 to appear for the second stage of selection which is the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Testing.
AFSB testing will have 2 stages. Qualified candidates from Online Test will have to appear for Stage 1 AFSB Interview at any of the AFSB Centre located in Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, and Mysuru.
Candidates who have qualified for the written exam are required to choose the AFSB exam date and centre on the official website afcat.cdac.in. in order to generate a call letter for the AFSB interview
AFSB Testing Stage 1:
Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test will be conducted on the first day.
It is a screening test for qualified candidates
All qualified candidates will undergo a document check for verification
Candidates who either do not qualify in this stage or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself
AFSB Testing Stage 2:
The psychological test will be conducted on day 1(afternoon) followed by group tests and interviews after document check for the next five days.
Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test
This test is mandatory for only those candidates who have applied for the Flying Branch.
Note: AFSB Stage 2 Testing requires at least 4-5 days and the last day is exclusively allocated for the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test. Also, the officers at the Selection Board will explain the tests in detail to all the candidates and aspirants can start the test only when they fully understand the instructions.

AFCAT Medical Test
If the candidate clears the Online Tests and both the stages of the AFSB Interview then he/she will be called for Medical Examination. The Indian Airforce has prescribed only two centres for Medical Examination: the Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru and the Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), Delhi. After the Medical Examination, a final merit list will be prepared by the Board and the selected candidates will be asked to join any of the training establishments.
