Preparation Tips

  • Based on your recent exam preparation, try to fill in gaps in the curriculum

You are now well aware of your weaknesses in terms of the syllabus after taking many banking examinations. Fundamental notions that are still unclear should be given a chance now. This is a fantastic opportunity to cover them all, regardless of which part or topic they are in. Based on the previous year’s high cut-offs, you’ll need a thorough understanding of the full course.

  • Concentrate more on mock test series

If you have previously reviewed the syllabus thoroughly and are still interested despite performing well, you should take a mock exam every day. Mock exams help you achieve better scores in the main exam, and you’ll be able to give it your best. Therefore, compared to all the other mock exams, you will have the best probability of doing well in the exam.

  • Balance preparation for English with other studies

English is also one of the subjects that are to be asked in the IDBI Bank Executive exam. Be prepared for 50 English questions.

  • Organise your time properly

There are 150 questions totalling 90 minutes in length. All the questions asked should be answered within 90 minutes. So, organise your time accordingly.

Exam Taking Strategy

Time Management

  • Manage your time to go over all of the questions at least once throughout the exam. This is because many questions are purposefully meant to be difficult and hence take up the majority of the time. A strong time management technique will help you select easy to answer and hence take less time to complete.
  • The English part should be your main priority. It takes the shortest amount of time and should just take you 10-15 minutes to complete. The time spent on this segment is minimal. In around 10-15 minutes, you should be able to attempt it.
  • Once you’ve completed English in the first 10-15 minutes, divide the remaining 45-50 minutes according to your preferred subject. If you excel in math, devote more time to it; if you excel at English, devote more time. The best time to attempt the Quantitative and Logical Reasoning sections is 20 and 25 minutes.
  • As a result, the sequence in which you should attempt the sections should be English first, followed by the section you are most afraid of.
  • Attempt the questions in the following order in each section: The questions you know and can answer quickly come first, followed by the questions you think you can answer but will take a long time. Try to avoid wasting time by tackling questions you aren’t sure you can answer. There are several more questions to answer and score. It’s more important to empty the paper than to top it. You can attempt the questions in two phases: first, focus on the questions that are simple and quick to answer. If time allows, attempt the difficult questions in the second phase. You’ll be able to clear sectional cutoffs and achieve a high score this way.

Accuracy

  • You can eliminate 2-3 possibilities by only guessing if you are 40-50 percent sure. Concentrate on reading comprehension, the cloze test, and para jumbles. Begin with comprehension. This method may take 5 minutes, but it is the most accurate. This will make it easier for you to pass the English sectional cutoff. To improve your overall score, do the cloze test and parajumbles. The English part of the IDBI Executive helps in scoring high.
  • There is no room for guessing in Quantitative Aptitude. Your goal is to achieve perfect accuracy. It is more gratifying to attend to fewer questions with higher accuracy than to attempt more questions with lower accuracy. Double-check your answers and exercise utmost caution.
  • Logical reasoning: This section likewise necessitates 100 per cent accuracy. Don’t just try to answer all of the questions to get the best grade.

Speed

While speed is important, it can occasionally come at the expense of precision. The following kind of questions, in general, necessitate quickness.

  • a) Reading Comprehension: Before reading the paragraph, you first want to read the questions. This way, you’ll be able to mark the answers as you read the paragraph, and you’ll be able to finish all of the questions in just one reading.
  • b) Data interpretation– You don’t need to make precise calculations if the answers are numbers that aren’t close to each other. You can round the numbers and do rough calculations, then highlight the answer that comes closest to the one you calculated.
  • c) Long calculations – You can practise and solve more problems of Mathematics to enhance your speed in it. Memorise tables until you reach 20, squares until you reach 30, and cubes until you reach 15.

Detailed Study plan

  • The best way to prepare the reasoning section for the IDBI Executive Exam:

The reasoning segment is easier than the other subjects if you have adequately practised all of the key topics. Strong analytical skills are required in this field, and “practice” is the key to enhancing your preparedness. Learn the fundamentals of the topics listed below, understand their philosophy, and then design a time-saving technique for answering the questions. Beginners may find syllogism a difficult problem to handle at first, but it becomes much easier with practice. The reasoning questions will be strictly logical. Try as many online mock tests as possible; regular practice will help you become an expert in this subject. Your ability to recognise the pattern of questions can only improve with practice. It is vital to respond to the questions as soon as possible. Try to complete the Reasoning section in 30 minutes or fewer by successfully answering 35-40 questions. You must choose these 35-40 questions carefully to answer them correctly.

  • The best way to prepare the English section for the IDBI Executive Exam:

Your reading skills and vocabulary understanding are completely dependent on the English component. Start reading newspapers every day to improve your vocabulary and comprehension of this section. Learn at least 5 new terms per day to become familiar with their common usage.
Examine the grammar rules first. It’s important to realize that you won’t recall all of the regulations. All that’s left now is to go over each rule with an example. Your memory will recall all of the regulations over time.
To increase your vocabulary or word power, read an English article and make a list of the new words you learned. Remember, you should do this on your own for at least 6 months.

  • The best way to prepare the Quantitative Aptitude section for the IDBI Executive Exam:

You can do well on the exam if you prepare properly for the Quantitative Aptitude section. You must improve your calculation skills to raise your score in this section. Remember key formulas, shortcut tactics, and so on to solve the questions in the quantitative aptitude part. To ensure that you can successfully attempt all types of graphs (line, table, bar, caselet, and so on), practise them all.
For some questions, precise calculations aren’t necessary. Approximations are achievable when options are worded in this way. As a result, thinking about the options before answering the questions can save you time. Learn how to use the table, squares, cubes, square roots, and percentage to fraction conversions (at least up to 50). This will improve your approach to solving Simplification/Approximation difficulties and your overall efficiency.
