Admission to IISER will be done through three channels: JEE Advanced, Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), and State and Central Boards (SCB). IISER Admission Process 2023

IISER Admission Process Different Channels

The selection in IISER is done through a variety of methods. Candidates can check the details of the IISER Admission Procedure based on the channels below:

1. IISER Admissions under KVPY Channel

Candidates who wish to appear for the IISER 2023 must first pass the KVPY entrance exam. The seats will be allocated to candidates based on their KVPY scorecard. However, to participate in the counselling, they must fill out an IISER application form. They must also pay the application fee. Moreover, these applicants are exempted from taking the IISER Aptitude Test.

2. IISR Admissions under JEE Advanced Channel

Candidates seeking admission through this method are selected based on the JEE Advanced scores. General category applicants having a rank in the top 10,000 of the JEE Advanced Common Rank List (CRL) will eligible for IISER admissions in 2023. However, similar to the KVPY admissions procedure, such candidates do not need to attempt the IISER Test 2023.

Note- Candidates from the OBCNC, SC, ST, and PWD categories will be evaluated using their category rank.

3. IISER Admissions under SCB Channel

Candidates who have completed their Class 12 exam in the Science stream are eligible for the IISER Entrance Exam 2023. To meet the IISER eligibility standards, they must also obtain marks (in their respective boards) equal to or higher than the cutoff as shown in the table below:

Applicants choosing this channel have to pass an aptitude exam administered by the IISER. Their rankings will be decided based on their performance in the aptitude test. The Joint Admission Committee will assign seats to candidates based on their submitted preferences, ranking, and availability of seats.

IISER Seat Allotment

Following the announcement of the IISER Result 2023, there will be a seat allotment procedure only for applicants who have passed the IISER Aptitude Test. Such candidates should log in to the application portal to get their offer letter. They must also pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) using the link provided in the application portal.

IISER Seat Allotment Fees (SAF) 

Candidates who will be assigned a seat in any of the IISERs must pay the required acceptance fees regardless of which option they choose. The Seat Allotment Fees (SAF) for the IISER in 2023 are:

  • INR 35,000 (Rs.25,000/- + Rs. 10,000 (Nonrefundable administrative fee)) for General Category Candidates
  • Rs.17,500/- (Rs.12,500/- + Rs. 5000/- (Nonrefundable administrative fee)) for Reserved Category candidates (SC/ST)
