AFCAT Vacancy 2022

Indian Air Force has announced 283 vacancies under the AFCAT 2 2022 Recruitment for Technical and Non-Technical posts. AFCAT Eligibility Criteria 2022

The authorities have set certain eligibility criteria to apply for the examination, according to the AFCAT 2 2022 notification. The conducting body releases Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) notification twice a year in order to recruit talented staff for Indian Air Force’s Flying Branch and Ground Duties for both technical & non-technical roles. Aspirants planning to apply for the examination must meet certain criteria like AFCAT age limit, educational qualification etc. Let us take a look at all the criteria as mentioned on the AFCAT 2 2022 notification.

Nationality

Only Indian citizens are allowed to participate in the examination.

AFCAT Age Limit

Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry20 to 24 years as on 02 January 2022 i.e. born between 02 January 1998 to 01 January 2002 (both dates inclusive).
The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1996 to 01 January 2002 (both dates inclusive).
Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2022 i.e. born between 02 January 1996 to 01 January 2002 (both dates inclusive).

Marital Status

1. Candidates less than 25 years of age must be unmarried. Widow, Widower or Divorcee candidates who are younger than 25 years are not eligible for the exam. And, candidates cannot get married during the training. Candidates older than 25 years of age are allowed to attempt the exam only if they get selected. But those candidates, will not get any married accommodation or a place to live with their family during the training period.
2. The date of birth must be the same as per the matriculation certificate or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or a certificate issued by any Indian university.
3. In case, the matriculation or any other age-proof document doesn’t have a birth date in it, candidates can submit a self-attested certificate issued by the principal or headmaster of the school they have studied in. The certificate must have the date of birth details on it.
4. Age mentioned in the Matriculation or Higher Secondary examination certificate will be considered as the correct birth date. Candidates must use the same at the time of filling the AFCAT Application form. After the submission of the form, no changes are entertained. Variation of details in any of the certificates will disqualify the candidature.

2. Education: Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.

3. Meteorology: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Computer Applications/ Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Agricultural Meteorology/ Ecology & Environment/ Geophysics/ Environmental Biology with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).

Quick Note: Two seats are reserved for Law qualified candidates in Ground duty (Non-Tech) branches and these candidates may be employed on legal duties of the IAF (after commissioning).

AFCAT Physical & Medical Standards

Candidates applying for the AFCAT exam must know about the Physical and Medical standards framed by Indian Air Force. Candidates will not be selected for the final recruitment without qualifying these standards, so go through the following:

For the flying branch, it is mandatory for men and women candidates to have a minimum height of 162.5 cm, leg length of 99 cms (minimum) to 120 cms (maximum), and thigh length of 64 cms.

For ground duty, the minimum acceptable height for men is 157.5 cms (Technical and Non-technical Candidates both). For women candidates, the minimum acceptable height is 152 cms.

Candidates from Kumaun or Garhwal and hills of North East India will get 5 cms of the relaxation. If the candidate is a domicile of Lakshadweep, 2 cms of the height relaxation will be given.

Visual Standards for the Flying Branch

  • i) Candidates with the habit of wearing spectacles regularly are not eligible.
  • ii) Minimum vision must be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other. Correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.

Important Information: It is mandatory for the candidates to possess a visual acuity of 6/9 in each eye. Candidates will have to wear the glass when advised. Colour Vision is as per CP II standards.

According to the AFCAT 2 2022 notification, Applications for AFCAT 2 were opened from June 1, 2022, on the official website, and the application window was open until June 30, 2022. Candidates have to visit any one of the IAF official websites to fill the online form. Go through the steps given here carefully to understand the application process of AFCAT:

  • 1st Step: Go on the website careerindianairforce.cdac.in or afcat.cdac.in. Candidates can also click on the direct link here to fill AFCAT 1 2022 application form.
  • 2nd Step: Click on the button Candidate Login.
  • 3rd Step: You will land on a new page. Then, click on Not yet registered? Register here.
  • 4th Step: Enter your Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Email ID, Password and other details. Click on “Sign Up”.
  • 5th Step: After successful registration, you will receive a login id and password.
  • 6th Step: Use the login id and password to enter the portal.
  • 7th Step: Reset the password. Make sure that the new password you choose is easy to remember. Thereafter Log in again.
  • 8th Step: Click on Instructions and read them carefully.
  • 9th Step: Click on the Application Form Filling to open the blank form.
  • 10th Step: Upload your passport size picture and a scanned copy of the signature.
  • 11th Step: After filling all the spaces, Cross-check and click on Save and Continue.

AFCAT Selection Process

The selection process will consist of a Written Test followed by SSB. Candidates who clear the Written Test will be called for SSB at the selected location. Next, SSB and Personal Interview (PI) will be held and a final merit list containing the name of selected candidates will be prepared.

Quick Note: To and fro travelling fare by the shortest route of AC-III Tier/AC Chair Car or actual normal bus fare will be reimbursed to the candidates appearing in AFSB for the first time.

Air Force Selection Board

The testing at AFSB would consist of three stages as given below:

Stage IOfficer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and discussion test will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. All Stage-I qualified candidates would be subjected to a document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for. Candidates who either do not qualify in Stage-I or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself
Stage IIA Psychological test will be conducted on Day 1(Afternoon) and the Group Tests and interviews would commence after the document check for the next five days.
For Flying BranchA Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. This is once in a lifetime test.

Important Information: Candidates who have failed the CPSS/ PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible.

Candidates who will successfully clear the AFCAT Cutoff for the written test released by the authorities will be called for an interview at one of the AFSB – Air Force Selection Boards as per their preference. The final selection will be done based on the performance in AFSB testing and then the results will be declared on the official website in the form of a pdf containing the names of all the selected candidates.

AFCAT Merit List 2022

AFCAT Merit List shall be uploaded in the form of a PDF on the official website, i.e., afcat.cdac.in. The final AFCAT 2 Merit List shall be released after the AFCAT 2 exam has been carried out on August 26, 27 and 28, 2022, at the designated exam centres by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The merit list will have names, title, UPSC No., and remarks for the candidates selected for the course.

AFCAT Salary 2022

Candidates who successfully clear all the rounds will be put into training for a period of 74 weeks for the flying and technical branch, and 52 weeks in case of non-technical branches. During this period, candidates will be provided with a stipend of Rs. 56,100/- per month on Pay Level 10.

On successful completion, the candidates will be offered a permanent position, and the AFCAT salary will vary for every branch in the Indian Air Force. The Annual Package for each department, as per the 7th pay commission is as shown below.
