Akash Tyagi’s Journey to Crack UPSC

Let us dive into the life journey of Akash Tyagi to know how he cracked UPSC and secured the 33 Rank:

Akash Tyagi was born in a middle-class family in Ambala. His father worked in Air Force. Working in the Air Force meant constant transfers every few years. This continuous movement created a huge impact on Akash Tyagi’s life. He would keep shifting schools every few years as a result, he would find huge difficulty in adjusting to new environments. He completed his schooling from  KV in AFS Barrackpore. While growing up, his family suffered a huge financial crisis that impacted his mental health tremendously. In spite of all the hardships, he was determined to change his life for the better and as a result, he worked hard to crack the 10th Board. However, he was unable to score the marks he had envisioned for himself. As a result, Akash was devastated and heartbroken. He sunk into depression that made him isolate himself from everyone.

As time passed, Akash Tyagi realised quitting is not an option. He stood back strong and was more determined to crack UPSC. While he was preparing for his 12th Board exams, Akash was offered to join the Under 16 and Under 19 National cricket team. But he chose to decline the offer and focus on his exams. He would borrow his friend’s study materials to prepare for the examination, his hard work paved the way as he scored 92% in his exams. This was the turning point in his life and brought a boost to his confidence.

However, his financial condition was still the same. He had to take a loan to secure admission in B.Tech. In order to study for the competitive exams like UPSC and GATE, he would borrow books from his friends and would study at night.  . Financial struggles never diminished his spirit to achieve his goals. He cracked UPSC, ISRO, BPCL, AFCAT, and IOCL just at the age of 22.

He was UPSC 33, GATE AIR 8, ISRO 1(written exam). To pursue his higher education, he got his admissions into IISc Bangalore.
