CBSE Class XI Registration : Valid Subject Combinations and Codes

Unlike previous years, CBSE has directed all its affiliated schools to avoid subject streams for Class 11. Earlier, students were required to select one stream Arts, Home Science, Commerce, Science, while taking admission in Class XI.

Considering the new NEP, the CBSE Board had permitted students to choose a specific combination of subjects without sticking to one stream. It will allow students to study the subjects they find interesting and wish to build their careers in. Students must note that they cannot pick random subjects together. CBSE has created sets of valid combinations of subjects.

CBSE Class 11 Registration: Selection of Subjects

The CBSE Class 11 holds a lot of importance in a student’s academic life. The subjects a student chooses in Class XI will also continue in Class XII. Thus, do thorough research of what each subject curriculum contains. Also, it is essential to follow one’s interests and not blindly follow friends or what others say.

Students will have to take entrance examinations for admission to different courses at the graduation level. So choose the combinations containing the subjects relevant to your graduation or future career.

For example, if a student wants to take admitted to MBBS, they should have studied Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biology subjects in classes XI and XII. Similarly, students who wish to pursue engineering are advised to select the subject combination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with English/Hindi. Students can then choose the remaining subjects from any stream as per their interests.
