NEW DELHI, APRIL 7: With a nationwide lockdown of COVID-19 pandemic, almost every entrance exam has been postponed as per the directives of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The lockdown is bound to push the admission cycle of various educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities, no sooner than two months.
The HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ advised the Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to postpone the last date of acceptance of application forms for various entrance exams.
In his tweet, the Minister said, “To enable students to fill up their application forms during these testing times, I have advised @DG_NTA to postpone of ICAR Exam, JNU Entrance Exam, UGC NET, CSIR NET, NCHM JEE, IGNOU PhD and management entrance exams by 1 month.”
The MHRD has also directed the other education stakeholders including CBSE, NIOS and NTA to prepare a revised schedule of examinations. Also, NCERT has been asked to prepare an alternative academic calendar.
Last week, the HRD Ministry had directed NTA to postpone NEET 2020 and schedule it by the last week of May, wherein earlier the undergraduate medical entrance examination was scheduled for May 3, 2020. The postponement of NEET will result in the postponement of every MBBS admissions in various government and private colleges across the country.
Having said that the NEET is the single entrance examination for admissions to MBBS programmes, the table below shows various state and institutional admissions which are bound to be delayed due to the postponement of NEET 2020.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has also postponed JEE Main for April Session, which is a gateway to the undergraduate engineering programmes across India.
