All candidates who wish to appear in the exam have to meet the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) NET –

Candidates who wish to apply for CSIR UGC NET must be a citizen of India. 

CSIR NET Eligibility 2022 – Age 

Check below the age limit prescribed by the authorities for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship/Assistant Professor. 

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) – The maximum age limit to apply for CSIR NET JRF is 28 years of age.  Also, candidates belonging to reserved categories will be given upper-age relaxation. Check below the table for detailed information –

CSIR NET Eligibility 2022 – Essential Educational Qualification 

  • Candidates who have an M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MBBS with a minimum of 55% marks for General /General-EWS and OBC candidates whereas those belonging to  SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) have to secure 50%.
  • Also, candidates enrolled for M.Sc or have completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the prescribed date, are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship. 
  • Those who have a B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates whereas, for those belonging to  SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) will have to obtain 50% marks are also eligible to apply. 
  • Candidates with Bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D program within the validity period of two years.
  • Candidates possessing only a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/ Associate Professor.

CSIR NET 2022 Eligibility for Lectureship (LS)/ Associate Professor Exam 

  • Life Science – Those who have a degree in Life Science will be eligible to appear for this exam.
  • Earth Science – Candidates must have completed M.Sc./BS-MS/BS-4 Years/B-Pharma or any equivalent degree in the field of Earth Science.
  • Mathematics – Candidates who have a degree in M.Sc./BS-MS/BS/B-Tech or any equivalent study for Mathematics are eligible to appear for the Mathematics exam.
  • Physical Science – Candidates must hold a valid degree of M.Sc to be eligible to appear for this exam.
  • Chemical Science – Those applying for this subject must hold an M.Sc./BS/B-Tech or equivalent qualification in Chemistry with the required aggregate percentage.

CSIR NET 2022 Eligibility – Important Points

  1. If a candidate does not meet CSIR National Eligibility Test eligibility 2022 at any later stage, their candidature will be cancelled immediately. 
  2. All the candidates willing to apply must have scored the prescribed marks in their class 12th and graduation in order to be eligible for the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research National Eligibility Test. 

CSIR NET 2022 Eligibility – Registration Form 

National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET) registration form in July 2022 in online mode. Only those candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of CSIR UGC NET will be eligible to fill in the application form. Candidates can fill the form by following these steps – registration, filling in the online application form, uploading scanned images and payment of application fees online or via Challan.

Those belonging to the General and EWS categories will have to pay Rs.1000 as an application fee, and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) has to pay Rs. 500, while those belonging to SC and ST will have to pay Rs.250. The application fee can be paid through debit, credit card, and net banking.
