Common University Entrance Test

Organised by the NTA, CUET is an entrance test in India to get admission to central universities, for admission into a wide array of programs, including doctorate, postgraduate, undergraduate, integrated postgraduate, diploma, certification courses, and research programs across 45 Central Universities in India.

Additionally, many State Universities and Deemed universities in India recognise the CUET scores as well.

History of CUET

Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) was initially launched to facilitate admissions for 1,500 seats across 41 undergraduate, postgraduate, and integrated courses in seven central universities in 2010.

The inaugural application process for CUCET-2010 took place, with the examination being held on June 19 and 20, 2010, across approximately 30 examination centres nationwide. 

From its establishment in 2010 until 2020, the Central University of Rajasthan conducted CUCET for 12 Central Universities. However, the responsibility for conducting these exams transitioned to the National Testing Agency in 2021.

In 2024, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, CUET was introduced as a revamped version of CUCET, mandated for adoption by all 45 Central Universities and other participating institutions.
