Bengaluru 22, 2021 – For session 2022, two new papers have been added to the GATE. One is Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM) and another one is Geomatics Engineering (GE). From session 2022, there will be a total of 29 papers for the GATE exam. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be held on February 05th,06th and 12th, 13th, 2022. The purpose of the GATE exam is to give a chance to the students to get admission to various IITs, NITs and other prestigious institutions for M.Tech and other masters courses. GATE scores will also be accepted by many PSUs also. The candidates who are planning to appear for the GATE 2022 can also refer to the official website i.e. iitkgp.ac.in. This year IIT Kharagpur is taking the responsibility to conduct the exam.
GATE 2022 Updates on Exam Pattern
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be held in online mode only. There will be objective type questions but in a different pattern such as Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
- For every wrong answers marked in Multiple Choice Questions there will be the deduction of marks. For 1 mark question, there will be the deduction of 1/3 marks while for 2 marks question there will be deduction of 2/3 marks.
- For every wrong answer marked in Numerical answer type questions and multiple select questions there will be no negative marking.
Two new papers have already been introduced for the session 2022 exam for GATE. So this year there will be 29 papers. Also, the GATE eligibility criteria have been expanded so that the MPharm and BDS degree holders can also give this exam. GATE 2022 Marks Distribution For Newly Introduced Papers
For Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NM)

|General Awareness carries a total of 15 marks.||The subject paper will have 25 questions having 1 mark each.|
|There will be 5 questions carrying 1 mark each||There will be 30 questions of having 2 marks each|
|Another 5 questions will be there of 2 marks each||Most of the questions will be of MCQ type while rest of them will be MSQ or NAT type|
For Geomatics Engineering (GE)
- 1. The General Aptitude pattern will be same.
- 2. The Geomatics Engineering paper will have two parts such as Part A and Part B.
- 3. Part A will be of 55 marks compulsory while Part B of 30 marks, the part B will be divided into further sections.
- 4. Here the candidates can choose between the section 1 and 2.

About GATE Exam
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is the exam for the candidates under undergraduates for engineering and science streams to help them to take admission into Masters program. Also, through this exam, the candidates can get the chance to get jobs in various PSUs. It is usually conducted by the various IITs and IISc also. GATE 2022 exam will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur conducts the exam on behalf of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India and Department of Higher Education.
