Persistence is a good thing but working on something to exhaustion is not a great idea. Solving numerical Q’s definitely requires knowledge and skills which can only be acquired by diligent practice. However, the correction approach for solving a problem plays a crucial and important role.
Most of the students know everything about the topics/chapters/concepts but they fail to solve the problem correctly because of their incorrect approach towards the solution of the problem.

1. Choose the right Example – Understand the statement/Q’s before you start, follow the examples and concepts thoroughly:
Solving a problem is about persistence. The primary issue faced by students is that they are not able to understand the problems and apply the concepts. Neglecting important topic in the subject or not being sure of the question what is asked for, can be a dead end which will lead to incorrect solutions. Marking or underlining the keywords or texts and keep an eye on the units/chapters in case if the questions or problems are from Science Subject.
Solving hard problems changes the way you think and once an issue extends your mind, you never see the things like the way you did before. Never feel frustrated when you are stuck somewhere in the middle or beginning.
2. Pattern recognition – Identify the patterns, principles and the concepts which is involved in the Question:
The main reason that separates a genius from his peer is his ability and knowledge to see things in positive way. A problem may have two or more concepts/formulas/principles followed by complicated maths equations. So, it is very important to understand the principles/concepts/formulas which are involved in the question.
3. Translate the question into proper algebraic equations:
This is also an important step for solving complex numerical, in the case of CBSE Exams simple concepts of the Maths like quadratic equations, log, calculus, etc. are involved. In the case of competitive exams like JEE Main or Advanced, more complicated concepts of Maths such as equations involving nth mysqladmin, nth power, derivatives are common. Therefore, the questions must be carefully translated into algebraic equations
