HPCET Notification 2022: The authorities of Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HMTU) will release the application form of HPCET 2023 on its official website tentatively on April 2023. Candidates can fill out their application forms before the last submission date to avoid disqualification. The exam is expected to be conducted by July 2023.

HPCET Notification: Important Dates

Candidates should be aware of the dates of the important exam events for HPCET exam 2023. Candidates cannot afford to miss out on any exam event in the exam calendar. HPCET Notification 2023: Eligibility Criteria

In order to take the exam, it is mandatory for the applicants to abide by the following eligibility criteria as mentioned on the HPCET Notification:

Educational Qualification

B.Tech: Candidates who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree course in B.Tech should have passed or appeared for their 10+2 exams or an examination of an equivalent nature from a recognized Board or University. The candidates should have Physics and Mathematics as their compulsory subjects. They should have either of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject as their third subject. They must score a miniumum of 45% marks in the subjects mentioned. Candidates belonging to the reserved category must meet a minimum score of 40% in their exams.

Direct Entry: Candidates looking for a direct entry should have passed or appeared in their Class 12 examination with Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Biology/ Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Agriculture/ Technical Vocational Subject/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies or Entrepreneurship.

They should have scored a minimum of 45% in their exam. Candidates in the reserved category should score at least 40% in their exams. Alternatively, candidates should have passed their diploma in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (or 40% for candidates belonging to the reserved category) to be eligible for direct entry for B.Tech. Candidates should note that this is subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the lateral entry vacancies have been exhausted.

Note: Candidates who clear their JEE Main 2022 exams will not be required to attempt for HPCET 2022 exams. They will be eligible for direct admissions.

B. Arch: Candidates should have scored at least 50% in their class 12 or equivalent exams or a minimum of 45% if they belong to reserved categories. They should have Mathematics as their mandatory subject to be eligible for B.Arch.

Alternatively, candidates who have passed their 10+3 diploma or an equivalent degree equivalent to the 10+2 level with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and have secured 50% marks (or 45% for reserved category candidates) are eligible for an undergraduate B.Arch degree.

B.Sc HMCT: Candidates should have passed their Class 10+ 2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board established by the Central or State Government. They also should have obtained at least 50% marks in their qualifying exams (or at least 45% if they belong from the reserved categories)

B. Pharma: To be eligible for admission in B. Pharma, the candidates should have become 17 years old before December 31, 2022. They should have passed Class 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognized Board or University with 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) with Physics and Chemistry as the compulsory subjects and one of Mathematics/ Biotechnology/ Biology or a Technical Vocational subject as the third subject.

How to Apply for HPCET 2023?

Candidates who want to apply for HPCET 2023 examination should go through the following steps to apply for the exam:

  • Visit the official website of HPCET at himtu.ac.in.
  • Click on the link to fill out the application form for HPCET 2023 exam.
  • Candidates will have to fill in their names, email addresses and contact numbers to complete their registration process. Once the registration process is complete, each candidate’s login credentials will be generated.
  • Candidates will have to log in to the website using their login credentials and provide their personal, academic and communication details.
  • Next, they will have to upload their necessary documents, photograph and signature in the format specified by the concerned authorities.
  • After the documents are uploaded, candidates will have to pay the examination fee. The examination fee can be paid using a debit card, credit card or e-Challan.
  • After the payment is completed, candidates should take a printout of the confirmation page. This may be required for their reference in the future.

HPCET 2023: Application Fees

Candidates can pay their application fee using either a credit card, a debit card, or an e-Challan. The fee once paid for the application, cannot be refunded to the candidates. As per the category they belong in, the candidates will have to pay their application fee, referring to the below chart:

HPCET Notification 2023: Exam Pattern

The following points provide complete details of the exam pattern:

1. Shifts of HPCET 2022: The HPCET exam will be conducted in offline mode. The exam will be conducted in a single shift from 9 am to 12 pm.

2. Number of Sections: The offline entrance test will comprise 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

3. Total Number of Questions: 150 questions are asked. Each section consists of 50 questions.

4. Marking Scheme: Each question in the HPCET test carries 2 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.5 for every wrong answer.

5. Time Duration: All three sections have a composite time of 3 hours. Candidates are required to finish the paper within the stipulated time for the exam.

What Happens in the Case of Inter-Se-Merit?

  1. If two candidates have similar aggregate marks, the applicant with higher marks in Physics will be considered for a higher ranking.
  2. If the score in Physics is the same then the higher Chemistry score of both the applicants will be taken into consideration.
  3. In case, the score in Physics and Chemistry are the same, then the score in the third subject would obviously be the same. Here, the 10+2 score will break the tie during the counselling session.
  4. If the 10+2 marks are also the same, then the candidate’s date of birth would be considered. Elder applicants would get the benefit of being ranked above.

HPCET Notification 2023: Admit Card

All the candidates who have registered for the exam will be able to download their admit cards from the official website once it has been officially released. Candidates have to login to the website and provide their application number or date of birth to download their HPCET hall tickets. The hall ticket will consist of the e-admit card number, the examination centre’s address, the exam date, and the candidate’s photograph.

Candidates must take a printout of their admit cards before going to their exams. Candidates have to bring their admit cards to the examination hall at the time of taking the test. The admit card is a mandatory document. Without this, candidates may not be allowed to write their exams.

HPCET Notification 2023: Answer Key

The answer key will be available on the University website after the exam has been conducted. The answer key is released in order to provide transparency to the paper-checking process. The release of the answer key helps candidates know their provisional scores.

The HPCET result will be released on the official website. Candidates will have to download their results from the official website. They will have to produce it at the time of counselling.

HPCET Notification 2023: General Guidelines

In order to comply with the university rules and regulations, applicants who are going to appear for the exam need to follow the below-mentioned guidelines:

  1. Applicants are not allowed to carry any textual material, electronic watches, mobile phones, bits of paper, calculators, log tables, documents, slide rules, pager or any other device. If applicants possess any of the above items, the equipment will be seized, and their candidatures will be treated as unfair means. Their examinations will be cancelled and they will also be debarred for the future exam(s).
  2. Candidates can only carry their HPCET e-admit card, pencils, erasers, cardboard or a clipboard, ball-point pen (black/blue), and geometry box.
  3. Aspirants are advised to attempt only those subjects which they had filled in the application form. If applicants attempt the wrong subject combination, their candidature will be liable to be canceled.
  4. Applicants should maintain complete silence and attend to their question paper only. Any kind of conversation or gesture in the exam hall shall be deemed as misbehavior. Applicants who are found impersonating, their candidature will be liable to be debarred permanently or for a specified period.
  5. Aspirants should not remove any page from the test booklet. If they are found to have removed any page, they will be presumed to have used unfair means and would be liable for criminal action.
