To get selected for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, one must go through all the 3 stages and clear them:
1st Stage of IIFT Selection Process: IIFT Exam 2023
Aspirants need to take the IIFT 2023 exam, which will tentatively be conducted in December 2023. They must score the minimum marks/percentile set by the institute they wish to get admitted into. Once the candidate has qualified in this round, they will be notified by the institute through an e-mail regarding the Essay Writing and GDPI round.
2nd Stage of IIFT Selection Process: Essay Writing
Qualified candidates will be participating in the next selection stage – Essay Writing. In this examination stage, candidates will be given 20 minutes to write 300 words. The analytical, as well as comprehension skills of the candidates will be tested through their essay writing skills.
3rd Stage of IIFT Selection Process: Group Discussion and Interview
In this stage of the exam, the teamwork of the candidates will be tested. The candidates are expected to have a good grip on general knowledge to address the different issues discussed during group discussions and personal interviews.

NTA, or National Testing Agency, is the apex body to declare the IIFT cut-off. The candidates are supposed to obtain the minimum cut-off decided by the authority to get qualified for the admission rounds.
The parameters on which the cut-off depends include the difficulty level of the exam, the total number of appearing candidates and the number of available seats.
The selection rounds include writing tests, GD and PI. Those who achieve marks per the cut-off will be invited to do the same.

IIFT admission will be made based on Essay writing, Written Test, Group discussions and Interviews. The written test will be conducted at the decided centres in Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Visakhapatnam. For the Group Discussion and Interview process, the candidates will be called based on their marks in the written examination.
Note: For the Foreign National/NRI/Children of NRIs, the admission will be based on the GMAT (General Management Aptitude Test).
