Minority Students Scholarships: 5 crore minority students to benefit in next 5 years with scholarships, says Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

BENGALURU, JUNE 12: What could be seen as a huge benefit to over five crore minority students in the next five years is the scholarship promises made by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Union Minister for Minority Affairs on June 11. The Union Minister also said that the minority students scholarships will be categorised under three broad sections- pre-matric, post-matric and merit-cum-means.

The Minority Affairs Union Minister while chairing 112th governing body and 65th general body meetings of Maulana Azad Education Foundation at Antyodaya Bhawan, Delhi, said that these minority students scholarship will be benefiting over 5 crore students including 50 percent girl beneficiaries.

“These scholarships will help in checking the school-drop cases of minority community girls. The school-drop out girls will be linked to education and employment through bridge-courses from reputed educational institutions across India,” shared Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

These minority students scholarships will also include more than 10 lakh Begum Hazrat Mahal girls scholarship in the next five years for the economically weaker sections.

Minority Students Scholarships: What’s in the Five-Year Pipeline Plan

A madrasa programme is to be launched by next month.

The madrassa teachers will be trained by different institutions across the country for a number of subjects including Hindi, English, Maths, Science and Computers, so that in turn they can impart the mainstream education to madrassa students.

A large number of schools, colleges, ITIs, Polytechnics, Girls Schools, Gurukul-type residential schools, and Common Service Centres being constructed under Pradhanmantri Jan Vikas Karykram (PMJVK) in areas devoid of educational infrastructure.

An education awareness campaign, ‘Padho-Badho’ is to be launched across the country to encourage education among the girls of minority communities. The first-phase 60-minority district concentrated campaigns will include Nukkad-Natak, Short Films and Cultural programmes.
