As par the MPSC 2020-21 notification, the Mains syllabus was revised. The revision has been implemented in General Studies Papers I to IV. MPSC Syllabus 2022 and Exam Pattern

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) conducts a state services exam, also known as the MPSC Rajyaseva exam, every year in 3 phases i.e.

  • Prelims
  • Main
  • Interview

Phase 1 and 2, i.e. Prelims and Main exams, are written exams while the interview is conducted to assess the personality of the candidates. Candidates must pass the previous stage to appear for the next MPSC exam stage. Scroll down to know more.

MPSC Prelims Syllabus 2022

MPSC Prelims is the first stage of state service exam. Candidates need to qualify in Prelims to get selected for the Main stage. The exam is objective in nature and conducted for two papers. Paper I consist of 100 questions, and Paper II consist of 80 questions.

The total marks for each paper are 200. The merit list for qualified candidates takes into account the marks obtained in both papers. The syllabus for MPSC Prelims is given below:

Paper I Syllabus (200 marks)

  • Current events of state, national and international importance.
  • History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.
  • Maharashtra, India and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.
  • Maharashtra and India – Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights Issue, etc.
  • Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
  • General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change do not require subject specialisation.
  • General Science

Paper-II Syllabus (200 marks)

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills, including communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision-making and problem-solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level)
  • Marathi and English language comprehension skills (Class X/XII level). Questions relating to this will be tested through passages from Marathi and English languages without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.
