NEET PG Counselling Process

The counselling process is similar for both categories of seats; only the conducting body differs. The counselling process for NEET will be conducted online by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota Seats and by the State medical authority for State Quota Seats.

The counselling process is centralised, and no individual institutions will be involved. The steps of the counselling process have been explained below in detail.

  • 1st Step: Registration: The candidates shortlisted in the merit list will have to register for the MCC NEET Counselling process by paying registration and security fees. In the registration process, candidates will have to provide their basic personal details such as their names, roll number, email ID, etc.
  • 2nd Step: Choice filling and Locking: The candidates must provide their preferred colleges. It is crucial as the seat allotment is done based on candidates’ choices and merit. After filling out the options, they have to lock the choices to complete the entire process.
  • 3rd Step: Processing of Application: DGHS/ State authority (depending upon seat category) will consider the candidates’ NEET score and preferences to allot seats in their desired colleges.
  • 4th Step: Provisional Seat Allotment List: After processing applications, a provisional seat allotment list will be released by DGHS/State Medical Authority. If satisfied with the seat allotment, candidates can confirm their admission by reporting to the concerned college. Suppose a candidate is not satisfied with the seat allotment; in that case, they can either take admission and provide their consent to attend Round 2 of counselling, or they can ignore the seat allotment, but their security fees will be forfeited. In all such cases, candidates can participate in Round 2 of counselling.
