PFMS Scholarship – Official Portal

The PFMS portal offers various scholarships schemes to candidates for College/University fees. It is issued every year by the government of India for those students who are unable to afford tuition fees. There are two types of PFMS scholarship schemes namely central sector schemes and centrally sponsored schemes.

The central sector scheme directly funded by the central government and the sponsored schemes are funded jointly the central and state governments respectively.

PFMS Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the PFMS Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria given below

  • The candidate must be a permanent resident of India.
  • Annual family income of the candidate must be below Rs. 6 lakh
  • Candidates must be between the age of 18 to 25 years.
  • The candidate must have passed the 10th standard board exams

PFMS Scholarship 2022 – Registration Process 

Eligible candidates can fill-in the PFMS application form by the steps below: 

1st Step: Visit the official website of the relevant scholarship portal
2nd Step: Click on the student registration option from the main page 
3rd Step: Select the scholarship scheme based on your eligibility 
4th Step: Provide details such as name, class, age, family income, education, account details, and email ID
5th Step: Upload the required documents to validate the mobile number, OTP will be sent for verification
6th Step: Enter the OTP and recheck all the details before submitting
7th Step: Take print out of the scholarship application after submission

Scholarship PFMS – Required Documents

These are the list of documents required for the PFMS scholarship:

PFMS Scholarship: Post Matric SC/ST Students

  1. Qualifying Exam: Class 10th 
  2. Scheme Administration: Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Through States /UT and Head of Institution
  3. Family Income: Not more than INR 2.5 lakh per annum
  4. Benefits: Study tour charges, thesis printing charges, reimbursement of fees, book bank facility, book allowance for correspondence courses, additional allowance for students with disabilities for the entire duration of the course.
  5. Academic Qualification: Class 10, Class 12 to Post-doctoral level. 
  6. Application Mode: Online application through the official website. 

PFMS Scholarship: Pre-Matric SC Students

  1. Administering Authority: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India
  2. Sponsored by: Centrally Sponsored 
  3. Academic Qualification: Students from Class 9 and Class 10
  4. Family Income: Not more than INR 1 lakh per annum.
  5. Application Mode: Online application through the respective portal. 

Scholarship PFMS: National Means Cum Merit Scheme

  1. Qualifying exam: Minimum 55% in Class 8th for general category and 50% for SC/ST category 
  2. Selection Process: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), and Mental Ability Test (MAT)
  3. Duration of scholarship: 4 years
  4. Administration: Department of Elementary Education (HRD)
  5. Scholarship: Total amount INR 6,000 to be paid INR 1500 quarterly 
  6. Eligible Institutions: Government, Local Body, or Govt. Aided School 
  7. Payment Authority: Program Division PAO (HRD)
  8. Condition for Continuance: Candidate must score a minimum of 55% in class 9 and 60% in the class 10.  
  9. Other Conditions: Candidates must not be employed in any part-time or full-time job and must not be availing any other scholarship. 

National Scheme of Incentive to Girl Child  

  1. Educational Qualification: Class 8 
  2. Total Scholarship: Two years
  3. Administering Authority: Department of Elementary Education (HRD), Government of India
  4. Scholarship: INR 3,000 paid only once. 
  5. Payment Authority: Program Division through PAO (HRD)
  6. Application Mode: Online application through the official portal of the national scholarship
  7. Restriction: The scholarship is paid to candidates after attaining the age of 18 years after class 10 exam. 
  8. Family Income Requirement: Not applicable

PFMS Scholarship: Scholarship of Top Class Education For SC students

  1. Covered Institutes of Education: Total 207 institutes spread all over the country including NITs, IITs, IIMs
  2. Covered Courses: Law, Management, Engineering, Medicine /Dentistry, and other Specialized Streams
  3. Administering Department: Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Through States /UT and Selected school’s Head of Institution
  4. Benefits: Living expenses of Rs. 2220 per month, books and stationery of Rs.3000 per annum, the latest computer with full accessories limited to Rs. 45000 as one-time assistance, full tuition fee, and other non-refundable charges (There is a ceiling limit of INR 2 lac per annum in a private institution, and INR 3.72 lac per annum in private commercial pilot training institutions. 
  5. Family Income Restriction: Family income should not be more than INR 4.5 lac per annum. 

PFMS Scholarship: Upgradation of merit for the SC students

  1. Scholarship Period: Total of four years
  2. Administration Department: Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Through States /UT and Head of Institution
  3. Scholarship Duration: Total of four years
  4. Benefits: Package of INR 25,000 thousand per student, INR 10,000 per year for an honorarium to Principal, Experts, and other incidental charges, and a total of INR 15,000 which includes (Pocket Money of INR 300 for 10 months, Boarding & Lodging charges INR 900 pm for 10 months, and Books and Stationery of INR 3,000). 
  5. Educational Institution requirements: The schools in different towns and districts based on the illiterate population of Scheduled Caste candidates. The school should have a hostel facility, facility for all-round development, Kendriya Vidyalaya with hostel facility, and they should have a good academic result in past few years.

Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC students

  1. Administering Body: Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India
  2. Family income Restriction: Total income should not be more than INR 1 lac per annum.
