The Commission follows a three-stage selection procedure to hire suitable candidates. The first stage is a Computer-based Examination (CBT). Candidates must clear the CBT to move to the next stage, i.e., either a Skill Test or direct Document Verification. The Staff Selection Commission specifies the selection process for the post. Candidates who are appearing for the recruitment process need to clear all the selection stages. Furthermore, they must obtain a higher merit position to get selected for the post. The selection process for SSC Selection Post recruitment 2023 consists of the following three stages:

  • Computer-based Examination
  • Skill Test (Wherever Applicable)
  • Document Verification

SSC Selection Post Stage 1: Computer-based Test

The first stage of the SSC Selection Post recruitment process is a Computer-based Written Exam. The SSC conducts three separate computer-based examinations for posts with different educational levels. The Commission conducts separate CBT for Matriculation level posts, Higher Secondary level posts, and Graduation and above.

The computer-based examination consists of four sections, i.e., General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language. Moreover, each section contains 25 objective-type multiple-choice questions for 50 marks. Furthermore, candidates may note that for all levels of CBT, the question paper scheme remains the same.

SSC Selection Post Stage 2: Skill Test

The Skill Test is applicable for a few posts as per the requirement and is qualifying in nature. Furthermore, SSC alone shortlists candidates for the next stage based on normalised scores and the number of vacancies. The following method is applicable for shortlisting candidates:

  • For up to 5 vacancies for any category of posts, the number of candidates who will be shortlisted will be 20 times the number of vacancies.
  • For more than 5 vacancies for any category of posts, the Commission shortlists candidates 10 times the number of vacancies.

All shortlisted candidates need to submit a printout of their application forms and self-attested copies of all the supporting documents related to the educational qualification (EQ), experience, category, age, age relaxation, etc., to the respective regional offices.

Furthermore, the Commission will conduct the Skill Test only for those candidates whose hard copies of documents are received and found in order.

SSC Selection Post Document Verification (DV)

The respective regional office of the Commission calls qualified candidates for Document Verification (DV). During this process, the officials verify all the information that candidates have provided in their applications with their original documents.

The Commission also issues admit cards to candidates for Document Verification. Candidates need to carry the printout of their admit cards, two passport-size recent colour photographs, and one original photo ID proof while appearing for DV. The following are the valid photo ID proofs:

  • Aadhaar Card/ Printout of E-Aadhaar
  • Voter Card
  • Driving License
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • ID Card issued by School/ College
  • Employer ID Card (Govt./ PSU/ Private)
  • Ex-Serviceman Discharge Book issued by Ministry of Defence
  • Any Photo ID Card issued by the Central/ State Government

Documents Required During SSC Selection Post DV Round

Candidates have to carry the following documents in original as well as photocopies at the time of the Document Verification:

  • Matriculation/ Secondary Certificate
  • Educational Qualification Certificate as Applicable for the Post
  • Experience Certificate (If Required)
  • Caste/ Category Certificate (If Applicable)
  • Persons with Disabilities Certificate (If Applicable) in the Required Format
  • Requisite Certificate for Ex-Servicemen (ESM)
