TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2022

Candidates are required to fulfil the TNEA eligibility criteria 2022 in order to get admission through TNEA. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria for appearing in TNEA:

Certificate of Nativity and Employment– Candidates who have completed classes 8, 9, 10 11 and 12 from Tamil Nadu schools can apply for TNEA exams without any certificate of nativity. This is irrespective of whether they belong from the state of Tamil Nadu.

– Candidates who have completed classes 8, 9, 10 11 and 12 from states outside Tamil Nadu need to submit a certificate of nativity (in original) only in electronic form or in the form of a digitally signed e-certicate.

– Children of Central Government Employees who have been serving continually in Tamil Nadu.
for the last 5 years, can apply for TNEA irrespective of their native. They will need to submit a certificate from the employer as proof of the parents’ employment. In case, both parents of the applicant are not alive, the guardian who fulfils this criterion can submit his/her certificate as a proof of his/her application.

– Children whose parents are working in the Public sector or Government recognized institutions for the last 5 years, can apply for TNEA 2022 exams irrespective of their native.  A copy of Income-tax return, PF slips, etc from the employer are required as the parents’ proof of employment.

– Children of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers can apply. In this case, a self-declaration form from the parent will be required.

– Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who have studied in Tamil Nadu will have to produce an identification certificate from the Head Quarters Tahsildar. In case the candidate has not registered in the refugee camp, they should produce their passport, visa and letter registered with the Police Station in original.
Qualifying ExamCandidates should either pass their exams in Classes 11 and 12, or their equivalent exams in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry together as per the minimum category-wise average percentage as given below:

– Candidates belonging to the General category: 45%
– SC/ST/SCA: 40%
– Candidates belonging to the backward classes including Muslims: 40%
– MBC and DNC: 40%

OR, 

Candidates should pass in any one of the vocational subject (namely, Basic Mechanical Engineering, Basic Electronics Engineering, Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Civil Engineering, Textile Technology or Basic Automobile Engineering)with either Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics, in Classes 11 and 12 with their minimum average percentage together, as follows:

– Candidates belonging to the General category: 45%
– Candidates belonging to the backward classes including Muslims: 40%
– MBC and DNC: 40%
– SC/ST/SCA: 40%

Candidates applying for Marine engineering applicants should have cleared class 12 with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in aggregate and 50% in English.
Physical Features Requirements– The candidates’ age should not exceed 25 years
– The minimum height of a candidate should be 157 cm
– Candidates should have a minimum weight of 48 kg
– Candidates should have a normal colour vision.
– Candidates should be medically fit for the course they are applying.

TNEA 2022 Eligibility Criteria: Important Documents Required

Candidates who submit the TNEA application form 2022, should submit the copies of the following original certificates:

  • Class 10Mark Sheet
  • Marksheet of HSC First and HSC second years or Equivalent Mark sheet
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Details of Government school in which the candidate has studied from Classes 6 to 12, for 7.5% Government School Students Reservation.
  • Permanent Community Certificate for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM (either Permanent card or digitally signed e-Certificate or one in the electronic form)
  • Nativity Certificate (only to be produced in the electronic form or as a digitally signed e-Certificate if applicable)
  • Income certificate (if applicable)
  • First Graduate Certificate (only in electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate) and First Graduate
    Joint Declaration (if applicable)
  • Srilankan Tamil Refugee certificate (if applicable)
  • For special reservation
    (i) Relevant certificates for children of Ex-servicemen with Parent’s discharge certificate and
    ID card
    (ii) Medical Certificate for candidates belonging to the PwD category. The certificate should be obtained from a medical board consisting of three doctors.
  • Candidates applying under the Eminent sports persons category should submit certificates related to their sports achievements with necessary forms.
