TNEA 2022: The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu, has released the notification for the TNEA 2022. The counselling dates of TNEA are available on the official website – www.tneaonline.org. Candidates have to complete the registration process from June 20 to July 19, 2022. DoTE conducts 4 rounds of counselling, and after that, it conducts a supplementary (mop-up) counselling round depending on the number of seats left after the fourth round. TNEA counselling aids admission into B.E./ B.Tech courses offered by various TNEA participating colleges of Tamil Nadu. Candidates completing class 12th or equivalent with PCM are eligible for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) process. TNEA Random Number 2022

The authorities released the TNEA random number on July 22, 2022, on the official website. TNEA random number 2022 helps break the tie in case of a similar performance of the qualifying score. Candidates can check their random number using the login credentials, including email ID and password. TNEA authority will randomly generate a 10-digit number, which counts as the last step for breaking the tie.

TNEA random numbers are generated through a computerised process that is referred to as a unique number-generating algorithm. These 10-digit random numbers are used when two candidates score the same number in the qualifying exam, and all other means such as the date of birth have been exhausted. Candidates must note the random number for future references.

  • Log in using your TNEA registered email id and password.
  • After successful login to the TNEA 2022 account.

TNEA 2022 Call Letter

The TNEA authority issues an e-call letter for all the candidates who completed the application process on the official website. The login credentials, including email ID and password. Candidates need to carry the e-call letter at the TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFC).

TNEA call letter mentions details including TFC address, document verification schedule and some personal information. Candidates can only download the call letter using the web portal. However, the TNEA authority intimates the candidates via email or SMS regarding the release of the TNEA call letter.

TNEA 2022 Certificate Verification

TNEA 2022 Rank List

DoTE released the TNEA rank list 2022 online on August 16, 2022. Candidates can visit the official website to access the TNEA merit list (rank list). TNEA authority will consider marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry exam to prepare the TNEA rank list. The score in the qualifying subjects is reduced to 200, with 50% weightage for Mathematics and 50% for Physics and Chemistry combined. 

Marks in the qualifying board exams will be normalised considering the highest score in the subject of a particular board. After normalising the scores, DoTE will publish the overall and community-wise rank lists separately. All the candidates who can take it to the rank list are eligible to participate in the TNEA counselling.

TNEA Tie-Breaking Criteria

TNEA authority will break the tie with the help of five stages to be followed in the chronology, as mentioned below.

  1. Initially, the officials will consider the marks of candidates in Mathematics to break the tie.
  2. If marks in mathematics are similar, the percentage of marks in Physics will be considered.
  3. If the tie still prevails, the authority will consider the percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject to break the tie.
  4. TNEA authorities will consider the Date of Birth if the tie still prevails. Older candidates will be given a preference in the merit preparation.
  5. Finally, if the tie still prevails, the random number assigned to the candidates will aid in breaking the tie.

TNEA 2022 Reservation Policy

Apart from the reservation mentioned in the table above, the TNEA authority provides a special reservation to specific candidates. To avail of the reservation under the special category, candidates must pay Rs.100 for each special reservation. The following categories can benefit from the directorate the special reservation for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission.

  3. Deaf and hard hearing.
  4. Blindness and low vision.

TNEA 2022 Counselling

Candidates whose names appear in the TNEA rank list are eligible for the online counselling process of TNEA 2022 from August 25 to October 21, 2022. TNEA will have four to five online counselling rounds depending on the number of seats available for admission. Candidates can log in using their user ID and password to participate in the TNEA counselling process 2022. Each round of TNEA counselling includes the following chronology.

  • 1st Stage – Publication of merit list/ rank list.
  • 2nd Stage – Payment of counselling fee*.
  • 3rd Stage – Choice filling and locking.

TNEA 2022 Seat Allotment

After the choice filling, DoTE will allot seats to the candidates based on several factors such as choices, reservation criteria, available seats, and more. Initially, DoTE will allot the seats tentatively; candidates need to either decline, confirm, or reject the allotment. After exercising the options, the authority will make the final allotment based on the ranks and the applicant’s allotment options that have been submitted. Candidates can view and download the final allotment order at the login portal.

After the TNEA final allotment, the candidate must visit the assigned college for admission
on or before the last date specified in the TNEA provisional allotment letter. If the candidate fails to join before the last date specified, they have to lose the seat and cannot claim the seat later.

TNEA Facilitation Centers 2022

The authorities have set up TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFC) in selected cities for the convenience of candidates. Candidates can use the facilities available in TFCs. The 46 TNEA Facilitation Centers have been established in 7 zones, including Chennai, Vellore, Salem, Coimbatore, Karaikudi, Bodi, and Tirunelveli.

TNEA 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to fulfil the eligibility conditions before filling out the application form for TNEA 2022. TNEA Eligibility Conditions for Nativity

  1. Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed classes VIII, IX, X, XI and XII from schools situated in the state are eligible to apply. Such candidates need not provide a nativity certificate.
  2. Candidates whose classes VIII, IX, X, XI and XII were completed outside Tamil Nadu are eligible for the production of a nativity certificate.
  3. Children of Central Government employees who have been serving in Tamil Nadu can also apply for admission, irrespective of the nativity.
  4. Sons and daughters of Tamil Nadu cadre officers under All India Services are eligible to apply.
  5. Other state candidates completing their schooling in Tamil Nadu are also eligible to apply.

TNEA Eligibility Conditions for Srilankan Tamil Refugee

  1. Srilankan Tamil Refugees who have studied in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply. However, such candidates will only be considered for seats under the open category
  2. Such candidates must produce the following documents to mark themselves eligible
    1. Identification certificate from the HeadQuarters Tahsildar
    2. Original passport, visa and letter registered with the Police Station for all those candidates who have not registered in the refugee camp.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria for Marine Engineering Programme

  1. Qualifying Exam – Candidates must have passed the class 12th level exam or its equivalent from a recognised board.
  2. Qualifying Subjects – Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.
  3. Qualifying Marks – Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in PCM subject groups along with obtaining a minimum of 50% in English.
  4. Age Criteria – Candidates aspiring for Marine Engineering admission will have an upper age limit of 25 years.
  5. Other Requirements – Candidates should satisfy the following conditions to be eligible for Marine Engineering.
    1. Minimum Height – 157 cm
    2. Minimum Weight – 48 kg
    3. Vision – Candidates should have a normal colour vision
