TNPSC Group 1 exam follows a two-tier selection process.
Candidates must clear all the two stages for their successful selection. The stages involved in the TNPSC Group 1 exam recruitment process 2021 are as under:
1st Stage: Preliminary Exam
2nd Stage: Main Exam (Descriptive Tests & Interview and Records)
The TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary exam is an objective type test and is conducted for three hours. The exam has 2 sections having a total of 200 questions with a maximum score of 300 marks. There is no negative marking in TNPSC Gr 1 Prelims. Candidates need to clear both sectional and overall cut off marks of the exam in order to be eligible to appear for the Main exam.

TNPSC Group 1 Mains 2020 exam revised dates will be announced soon. The Mains comprises of 2 sections: Descriptive Test & Interview and Record. The Descriptive Test carries 750 marks and Interview & Records carries 100 marks. The Main exam is a pen and paper-based exam. The Descriptive Test has 3 papers each of 3 hours duration.
