Here we did not rely on just one source of rankings. It was important to us that the rankings be recent, and be reliable. We studied the rankings for engineering colleges from DataQuest (2015 & 2014), Outlook rankings (2012 & 2014) rankings from Edu Rand (2015) as well as several other academic authorities.

 1. Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

Founded in 1964, BITS Pilani is the best private engineering college in the country, imparting great education and excellent placements.

It offers B.E. (Hons.) degree in the following disciplines:

2. BIT Mesra, Ranchi 

Even the next institute is a Birla Institute of Technology. Established in 1955, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra was the first institute to be granted autonomous status in the year 1972, and was the first to establish a Dept. of Space Engg & Rocketry.

The institute offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in the following disciplines:

But these colleges have not done too well in recent rankings. More consistently ranking was Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), which is our number 3.

Approved by AICTE & accredited by NBA, MIT Manipal stands proud at being the fifth best engineering college in the country. The institute, being ISO 9001 & 14001 certified, makes sure the students get at par education.

Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering grabs the eighth position on the top 10 private college’s list. Established in 1963, RVCE has 11 departments in engineering, and is accredited by AICTE and NBA.

8. Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar

This is a very new university in comparison to the others in the list. The first batch of students passed out only in 2004. But, it is definitely making waves already. In terms of an institute specializing in the IT sector, it definitely aims to outrank the IIITs. Many of its students rank highly in international competitions.

They have only TWO B.Tech Degrees

  • B.Tech. Honours (CS*) and B.Tech (ICT) –

9. IT, Nirma University, Ahmedabad

Institute of Technology was affiliated to Gujarat University till April 2003. Thereafter, it has become a constituent of the Nirma University.  About 15 km from Ahmedabad, it is also easily accessible from the state capital Gandhinagar.
