There are certain parameters through which NIRF ranking is calculated. Mainly, the NIRF Ranking depends on five parameters, namely:
These five parameters are further divided into sub-parameters. Based on these sub-parameters, the overall marks of each parameter are decided. Candidates can check the sub-parameters for NIRF ranking 2021 engineering college from below.
Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)
Research and Professional Practice (RP)
Graduation Outcomes (GO)
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
Peer Perception
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) follows a methodology to rank all the institutions and universities across India. The methodology covers five major parameters for ranking various universities and institutions in India. These major parameters include Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
The ranking of institutes depends on the information and data provided by the institutions. Furthermore, the data on publications and citations are taken from standard indexing and citation sources. The data of Perception is collected from the inputs of employers and peers. Apart from this, NIRF also provides an opportunity to the general public through press advertisements and web-portal to give feedback on the quality and accuracy of data submitted by different institutions.
However, the responsibility for the accuracy and authenticity of the data depends on the institutions’ input. After all these procedures, NIRF releases the final data as well as the Top Engineering Colleges List in India on the site.
The overall weightage of scores and ranks of institutions in the engineering category as well as the weightage of scores on five broad generic parameters are as follows:
Parameters | Marks | Weightage |
Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR) | 100 | 0.30 |
Research and Professional Practice (RP) | 100 | 0.30 |
Graduation Outcomes (GO) | 100 | 0.20 |
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) | 100 | 0.10 |
Peer Perception (PR) | 100 | 0.10 |
