The officials follow a two-tiered selection procedure to select suitable candidates for the post of Assistant. UIIC conducts a preliminary exam, and candidates who clear it qualify for the main exam. The UIIC Assistant selection process consists of the following two stages:

Candidates qualifying in the main examination will be further shortlisted for the Regional Language Test. However, there are no marks for the Regional Language Test. The test is qualifying in nature.
