What Is the Process of JoSAA?

Candidates who have qualified for the JEE Advanced 2022 or JEE Main 2022 will have to participate in the JoSAA counselling process. Through this process, the candidates will get admission to their selected colleges in their preferred courses. The counselling process consists of numerous steps. We have highlighted each of these steps below:

JoSAA Registration 2022

The authorities released the application form for JoSAA registration 2022 on September 12, 2022. Candidates who have cracked JEE Main 2022 are eligible for NIT and other good colleges depending on their scores and rank obtained. To apply for IIT, candidates should have cracked JEE Advanced 2022. They must fill out the application form online within the specified time to qualify for the counselling of JoSAA. To fill out the registration form, candidates should provide their registration numbers and passwords to fill out their application forms.

Choice Filling and Locking

After successfully registering the JoSAA application form, candidates must fill out their choice of branches and institutes. Candidates were able to fill out their choices for their preferred courses and colleges from September 12, 2022. They will get the choice of branches and institutes as per their eligibility. When filling out the choices, candidates should go in the decreasing order of their preference. After the choice filling, candidates have to lock their choices. Failing to lock the choices will lead the system to select the last saved choice when filling in the choices automatically.

A mock seat allotment is conducted to help familiarize candidates with the seat allotment process. Candidates can understand what colleges they have been allotted based on the mock seat allotment process and accordingly make changes to their choices.

JoSAA Counselling Process 2022

JoSAA Counselling 2022 is being conducted in six rounds. Candidates will have to opt for three choices in the counselling process of JoSAA, namely Freeze, Float and Slide. We have explained these processes below.

  • Freeze: When the candidate freezes a seat, the authorities will allot the seat, and the candidate will not participate in the next rounds of counselling.
  • Float: Candidates are eligible to participate in the next counselling session when choosing float. When the candidates get a better choice, they will be able to avail of that choice.
  • Slide: The candidates will be eligible for the next round of counselling. When the candidate gets any above priority branch in the allotted college, they are eligible for the course.
  • Withdraw: Candidates can withdraw their accepted seats by choosing the withdrawal option.

Seat Allotment and Document Verification

Candidates will have to login to the candidate portal of the official website using their application number and password to find out the seats they have been allotted. Candidates can avail of one of the following options:

  • Accept the seat allotted and not participate in the following round
  • Accept the seat and still choose to participate in the following round
  • Reject the allotted seat and not participate in the next counselling round.

If candidates accept the seats allotted to them, they will have to download the Provisional Allotment Letter from the website and pay the seat acceptance fee. The seat acceptance fee is Rs. 35000 for the general category and Rs. 15000 for the reserved category candidates. Candidates can confirm their seats by paying the seat acceptance fee through online mode or e-challan.
