The Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) is an educational body under the Government of Uttarakhand. The Board was established in 2001 under the Uttarakhand State Government. It primarily involves prescribing curriculum, textbooks for schools in Uttarakhand. The Board is also responsible for conducting exams and publishing results of the Secondary School Examination. It has more than 10,000 schools of the state affiliated under it.

Exam Summary

According to the guidelines of the Uttarakhand Board, every school evaluates students' performance and growth by Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). CCE mainly focuses on all round development of the child and gives equal importance to Scholastic and Co-scholastic Areas. They are evaluated on the basis of the following subjects and criteria.

Scholastic Areas

Scholastic areas are evaluated through two assessments namely Formative Assessments (FA) and Summative Assessments (SA).

  1. Experiment on the need for light, green leaf for photosynthesis, looking at any saprophyte/parasite and noting differences from a green plant.
  2. Activity on the effect of saliva on starch, the permanent slide of Amoeba.
  3. Collection of different samples of woollen and silk cloth. Activities to differentiate natural silk and wool from artificial fibres.
  4. Experiment to show that ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ are relative. Experiments to show conduction, convection and radiation

Preparation Tips

  1. To get better marks in any examination, a detailed strategy and a study plan is a must. 
  2. You should be aware of the strength and the weakest part of yourself and should do your own preparation accordingly. 
  3. Keep a positive attitude and begin the studies as early as possible. 
  4. For the chapters, including calculations, try to write and practice most of them by yourself. For instance, different mathematics chapters can have problems based on calculations. Therefore, it is better to practice and solve them by yourself on paper.

  4. Be present at the exam venue 15 minutes before the commencement of the exam.
  5. Plan to attempt all the questions within a prescribed time.
  6. Be positive and do not panic if a few questions are not able to be answered.
