The Bihar and Orissa Provincial Co-operative Bank was established on March 16, 1914, under the Cooperative Societies Act II of 1912. Initially, the Bank's operations were limited to Bihar and Orissa. Following Orissa's split in 1936-37, the bank's operations were limited to Bihar, and its name was changed to Bihar State Co-operative Bank Ltd. in December 1950. Following the application of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 to Co-operative Bank on March 1, 1966, this bank was added to the Reserve Bank of India's second schedule in July 1966.

Selection Process

Candidates undergo two stages of the exam, which are the Prelims and the Mains. The selection process for the Bihar Cooperative Bank Assistant exam is as follows:

  • BSCB Assistant Prelims Exam
  • BSCB Assistant Mains Exam

Stages of Exam

Bihar State Cooperative Bank Assistant recruitment has three stages of exam. Candidates must pass all three stages of the recruitment process.

    • Prelims exam: The preliminary examination is the first stage of recruitment for Bihar cooperative bank assistants. The question paper will be bilingual (Both Hindi and English except for the English language section). This exam is conducted for 100 marks and the duration is 1 hour. There is a sectional cut-off for all three sections of the exam. Students must qualify in each section of the exam.
    • Mains exam: Students who clear the preliminary exam are allowed to take the mains exam. This exam is conducted for 200 marks and the duration of the exam is 2 hours. 
    • Interview: This is the final test of the recruitment. The candidates who secured good and qualifying marks are eligible for the interview.

  • Bihar Cooperative Bank Assistant Exam will be conducted in Online Mode.
  • There will be an overall cut-off.
  • The prelims exam will consist of only three sections: English, reasoning, and numerical ability. In contrast, the mains exam will conduct five sections: English language, numerical ability or quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, general knowledge and current affairs, and computer knowledge.
  • Negative marking: 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question (0.25 marks) will be deducted as a penalty.
  • There is no negative marking for unattended questions.
  • The paper will be an Online MCQ in which each question will have five options & candidates have to choose the correct one.
  • There are 100 questions asked in the BSCB prelims examination and 200 questions asked in the BSCB mains examination.
  • The total marks of the prelims examination are 100. For the mains examination, the total marks are 200.

Education Qualification

An applicant must have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university in any discipline or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. At the SSC/ HSC/ Intermediate/ Graduation level, the candidate must have passed English as one of the subjects. As of the date of application registration, the candidate must have a certificate proving that he or she has passed the qualifying examination.

Bihar State Cooperative Bank Service Bond

Candidates selected for probationary positions in the Bihar State Cooperative Bank and the District Central Cooperative Bank shall sign a three-year service bond with the respective bank in accordance with the Cooperative Department's requirements.

Candidates who are appointed as probationers in cooperative banks will be required to serve a one-year probation period. Candidates will not be entitled to any benefits or allowances during their probation period, with the exception of the emoluments listed above, and PF deductions will be made in accordance with the guidelines.

At the time of the appointment, you will be required to post a bond. The assistant grade will sign a bond for 75,000/- at the time of appointment in case of resignation from service. In addition, selected candidates must pass a computer efficiency test during the first year of their probationary period. On successful completion of the probation period, confirmation will be made.
