KCET 2023 Eligibility: Academic Qualification

Following are some academic qualifications which are a mandate for every candidate opting for the KCET exam 2023:

  • Candidates must have cleared Karnataka’s second PUC/ 12th standard/ equivalent exam.
  • Candidates awaiting the results of their class 12 or PUC exams in 2023 may also apply for KCET 2023.
  • Candidates completing their PUC final and qualifying examination or 12th grade at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) are ineligible to sit for the KCET 2023 exam.
  • Candidates must have passed the secondary PUC/ 10+2 or equivalent exam with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Electronics, and Computer with a minimum score of 45% to be admitted to B.Tech programmes (40% score for reserved categories).
  • To be admitted to Farm Science courses, the applicant must have passed the qualifying test with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology as alternative topics.
  • For admissions to B.Pharma courses: Applicant should have passed the qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). Or the applicant should have passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.

KCET 2023 Eligibility: Age Limit

The minimum age to appear for the exam is 17 years. However, the conducting body hasn’t set any upper age limit yet.

KCET 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Different Categories

  • Migrant candidates of Jammu and Kashmir can also apply for KCET 2023 by showing proof of migration obtained from the jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India.
  • Candidates whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava must have resided and studied in the disputed Kannada speaking area of South Solapur or Akkalkot or Jeth or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala State for at least 7 years between 1st and 12th standards. Such candidates will have to undergo and clear the Kannada Language test. Candidates who have studied for ten academic years in Kannada language from 1st to 10th standard outside Karnataka need not appear for the Kannada Language Test.
  • Lastly, children of Members of Parliament who are representing Karnataka are eligible if they have cleared high school from any institution located in any part of India.

KCET Eligibility Claims 2023

Following are some of the KCET claims made by KEA official authorities:

  • Candidates who have claimed their eligibility under NCC and Sports must provide the required certificates during the document submission process. (Participation certificate from the school/ college in the NCC or Sports events).
  • KCET applicants who claim their eligibility under special categories should provide the original special category certificates and two photocopies to the concerned authorities of KEA. 
  • KCET applicants should submit the documents during the verification procedure, supporting the claim for each clause. They must read every specific clause carefully.
  • 5% of each college and course seats have reservations as supernumerary quotas in all engineering colleges.
  • The exam conducting authority has defined specific KCET reservation criteria for the candidates claiming quota or government seats.

KCET Eligibility Criteria 2023 – Nativity [For Government Seats]

  • To be eligible for government seats in KCET 2023, candidates must meet certain criteria. One such criterion is that they should have studied in a government or government-recognized educational institution in the state of Karnataka for a minimum of seven academic years starting from 1st standard up to either SSLC/10th standard or 2nd PUC/12th standard. They must have also passed the respective qualifying examination from Karnataka State.
  • Candidates who have completed 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an educational institution recognized by the State Government are also eligible. Additionally, at least one of their parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum of seven years.
  • Children of defense personnel who have worked in Karnataka for at least one year during the two-year period of study in PUC/11th and 12th standard course are eligible. Candidates who are children of serving or retired employees in Central Armed Police Force Service are also eligible if their parents mentioned their home town as Karnataka while joining the service.
