Once the KVPY exam is over, the next step is the selection process. The KVPY Selection Process is conducted in two stages: aptitude test and interview. The program’s objective is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
Students studying in XI standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences, namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are eligible for selection. Special groups/committees are set up at IISc to screen the applications and conduct an aptitude test at various centres in the country.

In the KVPY aptitude test, candidates are evaluated on their thinking and analytical ability. Candidates must attempt any three sections in Part I and any two sections in Part II. Candidates who meet the requirements for various streams will be allowed to complete an aptitude exam, which will be administered in both Hindi and English. The KVPY test will be held in several locations around the country.
The interview round is the second stage of the selection process, during which the candidate’s expertise in science and research is assessed by the interviewers. Shortlisted applicants are assigned an interview location based on the KVPY Test Centre assigned to them beforehand.
