UGC NET 2019: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has assigned the responsibility of conducting UGC NET 2019 exam to the National Testing Agency (NTA). UGC NET is conducted in online mode through Computer Based System (CBT). UGC NET is a test that determine the eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in various Indian universities and colleges.

UGC NET 2019 is a national level exam that is conducted twice in a year i.e. in the month of June and December. Every year around 9.54 lakh aspirants appear for UGC NET exam in nearly 615 centers for around 100 subjects. The NTA has completed the June session and the online application process for December session will begin tentatively from September 1st week of 2019.

Coming to the Highlights of UGC NET 2019 June exam

  1. This time the total number of candidates who appeared for UGC NET exam in June were less than last year.
  2. EWS (Economically Weaker Section) was added for reservation.
  3. The conducting body of UGC NET 2019 exam is National Testing Agency (NTA) this year onwards.
  4. The first exam conducted by NTA was in June 2019 for UGC NET and December session will be the second exam.

UGC NET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the below given UGC NET 2019 Eligibility Criteria before applying for the exam:

Age limit-

There is no age limit for the position of Assistant Professor. However, in case of Junior Research Fellowship the age of the applicant must not be more than 30 years as on January 1, 2020 for General category candidates. NTA provides relaxations to candidates who belong to reserved categories:

  1. OBC-NCL/ ST/ SC/ PWD/ Women applicants – 5 years relaxation.
  2. Candidates with research experience in a particular field from a recognized university – 5 years.
  3. Candidates with LLM Degree – 3 years.
  4. Candidates, who served in the armed forces, are provided 5 years of age relaxation.

Candidates with the given qualification/ degree shall be exempted from attending NET and can directly apply to any college

  1. Candidates who have cleared UGC / CSIR JRF before 1989.
  2. Candidates who have cleared States Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002.
  3. An additional of 5% relaxation is added by the board for those applicants who have completed their Doctorate degree before September 19, 1991.

Academic-

  1. The candidate applying for UGC NET 2019 should owna master’s degree or its equivalent from a board or university recognized by UGC.
  2. Candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the master’s degree in streams such as social science, humanities, and computer science & applications and more.
  3. UGC NET offers an exemption to candidates belonging to OBC/ ST/SC categories to at least 50%.
  4. Candidates who are in their final year of qualifying exam can also apply.

 

UGC NET 2019 Application Process: How To Apply For UGC NET 2019 Exam

The online application form of UGC NET 2019 will be released in the first week of September 2019 for December Session.  Last date to fill the application form of UGC NET 2019 will be last week of September 2019 for December Session. No application will be accepted after the last date of submission. The authority will also provide candidates a chance to correct their application afterwards. Candidates have to apply through ntanet.nic.in or nta.ac.in. Candidate must have these documents with them before starting the process of application form:

  1. Copy of board/ University certificate for candidate’s name, candidate’s mother’s Name, father’s name and date of birth.
  2. Aadhaar card of candidate.
  3. Any kind of Identification card – bank account number/ passport number/ other Govt ID.
  4. Qualifying degree certificate or last semester marksheet.
  5. Permanent address with pin code.
  6. Category certificate, if applicable.
  7. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate, if applicable.
  8. Person with Disability (PwD) certificate, if applicable.
  9. E-mail address and mobile Number of candidates.
  10. Scanned images in JPG/JPEG format only.

Follow the steps to apply for UGC NET 2019 Online:

Step 1: Registration

  1. New users should register on the official website of UGC NET 2019 i.e., ntanet.nic.in or nta.ac.in. Candidates can complete the registration process by filling the required details.
  2. Candidates who are already registered can login using their application number and password.
  3.  Candidates are advised to go through the terms and conditions before clicking on “Proceed Further”.

Step 2: Fill in the application

  1. The online application form will be displayed, and candidates must enter the required details such as four choices of exam center, NET subject, course at PG level, reservation category and other details.
  2. Fill in the details and click on “Submit” option.
  3. A review page appears on the screen, after submitting the form, where the candidate can review the details filled in by them. After verification, click “Final Submit” button to submit the final application form. Applicants should save the confirmation page.
  4. An application number will be generated after the submission of the form. Candidates must save the number as it will be used for log in and other purposes later on.

Step 3: Uploading Scanned Images

Candidates are required to upload scanned images only in the specified format and dimensions. The photograph must be clicked on or after March 1, 2019, clearly specifying the name of the candidate and date of clicking the photo.

Step 4: Application Fee Payment

  1.  The candidates will be redirected to the fee payment portal, after the final upload of the photo.
  2.  Candidates can choose to pay through online mode using debit/credit card or net banking and offline mode of e-challan.
  3.  If the candidate opts for payment through e-challan, the system will generate an e-challan that the candidate have to get printed and has to submit it along with the fee to any nearest syndicate bank/ ICICI/canara bank.

UGC NET December 2019 Admit Card

The Admit card will be issued to the candidates on 3rd week of November in online mode only. UGC NET 2019 Admit card is an important document which the candidate must carry with them on the exam day. Candidate will not be allowed to write the exam without showing the admit card to the invigilator.  The details printed on UGC admi card include Name, Category, Address of the Examination Center, Photograph and Signature, Date & Timing of the examination, etc.  Candidates can access the admit card on the official website- ntanet.nic.in.

How to Download UGC NET 2019 Admit Card

  1. Go to the official website.nic.in.
  2. Click on “Click Here for Login for Admit Card”.
  3. Login with application number and password.
  4. The admit Card will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Download it and take a printout for further reference.

UGC NET 2019 Exam Pattern

UGC NET exam consists of two papers and both are conducted on the same day. The candidate should be well aware of the pattern of the exam before attempting the exam. UGC NET exam will conducted online in CBT mode.

  1. Number of Questions: Paper 1 has 50 questions and in Paper 2 has 100 questions. There will be total 150 questions in the UGC NET 2019 exam. All questions are compulsory.
  2. Type questions: Both the test comprises of objective type of questions only.ie., Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  3. Medium language: The question paper will be available in English and Hindi medium language.
  4. Duration: Paper 1 has a duration of 1 hour whereas Paper 2 has a duration of 2 hours.
  5. Total marks: Paper 1 will be of 100 marks and Paper 2 will be of 200 marks.
  6. Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 2 marks will be given. There will be no provision of negative marking for incorrect answer.

 Students are advised to arrive the test center well before time, at least 2 hours before the test starts. After that, candidates won’t be allowed to enter the examination hall.

UGC NET 2019 Syllabus

Syllabus of UGC NET 2019 for Paper I and Paper II can be checked online by the candidates. It will vary as per the subjects chosen by the candidate at the time of registration.

Paper I of UGC NET 2019 will consist of questions related to generic nature, intending to assess the teaching or research aptitude of the students. This paper will test the candidate’s knowledge in reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness.

Paper II of UGC NET 2019, will contain various topics from the subject selected by the candidate. The topics will be related to bachelor’s and Master’s level syllabus.

UGC NET 2019 Answer Key

Once the UGC NET December 2019 exam is completed, the board will release the answer key of UGC NET 2019. Candidates will be able to download the answer key through online mode. Candidates can also challenge the answer key in case they are not satisfied with the answers provided in it. After examining all the challenges, the board will release the final answer key.

UGC NET 2019 Result

The board will announce the result, after the completion of exam and release of answer key. The result will be declared in the second week of January 2020 for December session. Students can check their result through online mode by submitting their roll number and date of birth.

How to Check UGC NET 2019 Result

  1. Go to the official website of NTA NET.
  2. Click on UGC NET 2019 result on the menu bar.
  3. Enter your roll number and date of birth.
  4. Click on the submit button.
  5. The result will be displayed on the screen.
  6. Download it and take a printout of the result for further process.

UGC NET 2019 Scorecard

The scorecard of UGC NET 2019 will be released along with the results. UGC NET 2019 scorecard will mention various important details about the applicant. These details will include candidate’s name, course name, hall ticket number, total marks, marks secured by the candidate in paper I and II, rank scored and percentage.

UGC NET 2019 Cutoff List

UGC NET 2019 cut off list will be published online by the authority after the entrance test. A separate category wise and subject wise merit list will be made for the students successfully securing the cut off marks. Cut off marks for various categories according to last year.

UGC NET 2019 Selection Procedure

For the selection process, only the candidates who will qualify the UGC NET test by securing the cut off marks will be considered for the admission process. Candidates qualifying the entrance exam of UGC NET 2019, will be selected in the subject wise and category wise merit list which will be published online. Top 6% of total students who appeared for both the papers in the test will be considered qualified in the entrance test.

In various Indian Universities or Institutions, cut off marks secured by the candidate is taken as a major factor in admission process, for the position of Assistant professor or Junior Research Fellowship.
