The evaluation pattern of the 6th Kerala Board exam ensures that students go through the syllabus of the respective period thoroughly.

Here are a few tips for preparation:

  • Read through the whole syllabus more than once and absorb the contents. Understand the depth of each topic.
  • If you do not understand something, clarify it from your class teacher.
  • Make short notes wherever necessary for revision.
  • Mathematics needs a lot of practice. Practise each problem more than once, if necessary,  till you are sure that you can solve all the problems given in your textbooks and other similar books of the same class.
  • Make a collection of the formulas of Mathematics, write them down in a separate notebook and go through them from time to time to memorise those formulas. Also, collect all the facts, figures, important data etc. and note them separately and memorise those.
  • Normally at the end of each chapter, some questions of different marks are given. Some books contain more questions at the end as well. Prepare answers for all those questions.
  • Apart from the Kerala Board text books, read, prepare and solve other text books.
  • Take mock tests for the 6th grade on Embibe for more practice.

  • Divide your time judiciously between all the given questions based on the weightage of the marks so that you can complete the examination within the allotted time frame.
  • Never panic or lose confidence while dealing with difficult or confusing questions. Keep cool and handle carefully.

Kerala Board Class 6 Detailed Study Plan

We have provided a detailed points on how study can plan their preparations for exams:

  • Be Systematic and Planned: Preparation should start right from the beginning of the academic year. Organise all the books, exercise books and other study materials and keep them in order in your study room. Note how the whole syllabus is divided into various terms for internal assessments. The preparation should start looking at this.
  • Know Your Syllabus: Before beginning your preparation, students should understand the syllabus well in terms of:
    • different the topics covered under each chapter
    • in every subject the level and depth of the syllabus
    • if numerical problem solving is associated with any section of any topic of the syllabus
  • All Subjects Are Important: While getting ready for the 6th Kerala Board school level exam, some students may feel that subjects like Mathematics and Science are more important than others, and hence give more time to these. But this is not the right approach. In order to score high marks, the students need to give equal importance to all the subjects and hence prepare all the subjects with equal weightage.
  • Regular Revision: Students should understand their own strengths and weaknesses in each subject and analyse the magnitude of preparation that they have done so far and identify the gaps in preparation. . Depending on this gap they need to create a proper revision plan. This revision plan should be made a part of the main study plan. It is also important to revisit the remaining gaps in preparation and amend the list of revision topics.
  • Practice Sample Paper or Previous Year Question Papers: Practising sample papers or previous year question papers are proved to be one of the most effective ways to prepare for any examination. Go to the Kerala Board official website or the Embibe website and begin practising.
  • Follow text books recommended by the 6th Kerala Board (The State Council of Educational Research and Training): To score well in the 6th Kerala Board school level exam, a comprehensive understanding of basic ideas of each topic and a thorough reading of the Kerala Board category six books is essential.
