About Exam

The Tripura Board of Secondary Education, also known as TBSE, was established in 1973 and started functioning in 1976. The board designed and developed the syllabus, curriculum, and textbooks during this period. However, since 2015, the board has designed and adopted the new syllabus. Before 1973, all the schools of Tripura were affiliated with the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. 

Now, TBSE is in charge of the state’s education system and has its headquarters in Agartala, Tripura. The board is in charge of improving the state’s education system and it is responsible to for the literacy rate of 87.75%. So to get a good score and get promoted to class 10 students of Tripura Board Class 9 must check the syllabus, exam details, and other important information and prepare well for the exam.

TBSE Class 9 Exam Summary

The Tripura Board conducts two major examinations: half-yearly and final exams. Both examinations are written exams, and students must clear the same to get promoted to Class 10. The half-yearly examination covers half of the syllabus, and the final examination covers the entire syllabus covered in the Tripura Board Class 9 curriculum.

Practicals should be conducted alongside the concepts that have been taught in theory classes. (List of Experiments) 

  1. Preparation of: 
    • a true solution of common salt, sugar and alum.
    • a suspension of soil, chalk powder and fine sand in water.
    • a colloidal solution of starch in water and egg albumin/milk in water and distinguish between these based on
      • transparency
      • filtration criterion 
      • stability
  2. Preparation of: 
    • a mixture
    • a compound using iron filings and sulphur powder and distinguishing between these based on: 
      • appearance, i.e., homogeneity and heterogeneity 
      • behaviour towards a magnet 
      •  behaviour towards carbon disulphide as a solvent 
      • effect of heat 
  3. Separating the components of a mixture of sand, common salt and ammonium chloride (or camphor).
  4. Perform the following reactions and classify them as physical or chemical changes: 
    • Iron with copper sulphate solution in water.
    • Burning of magnesium ribbon in the air.
    • Zinc with dilute sulphuric acid.
    • Heating of copper sulphate crystals.
    • Sodium sulphate with barium chloride in the form of their solutions in water.
  5. Preparation of temporary stained mounts of 
    • onion peel 
    • human cheek cells & to record observations and draw their labelled diagrams. 
  6. Identification of Parenchyma, Collenchyma and Sclerenchyma tissues in plants, striped, smooth and cardiac muscle fibres and nerve cells in animals from prepared slides. Draw their labelled diagrams.
  7. Determination of the melting point of ice and the boiling point of water.
  8. Verification of the Laws of reflection of sound.
  9. Determination of the density of a solid (denser than water) by using a spring balance and a measuring cylinder.
  10. Establishing the relation between the loss in weight of a solid when fully immersed in
    • tap water
    • strongly salty water, with the weight of water displaced by it by taking at least two different solids. 
  11. Determination of the speed of a pulse propagated through a stretched string/ slinky(helical spring).
  12. Study of the characteristics of Spirogyra, Agaricus, Moss, Fern, Pinus (either with male or female cones) and an Angiospermic plant. Draw and give two identifying features of the groups they belong to.
  13. Observe the given pictures/charts/models of earthworms, cockroaches, bony fish and birds. For each organism, draw the picture and record:
    • one specific feature of its phylum.
    • one adaptive feature concerning its habitat.
  14. Verification of the law of conservation of mass in a chemical reaction.
  15. Study of the external features of the root, stem, leaf and flower of monocot and dicot plants.
