Exam Taking Strategy

  • Utilise the importance of time: IIM Indore has added sectional time for its 2020 IPMAT, unlike prior years. All of the sections have been given 30 minutes to accomplish them. As a result, give each inquiry your entire attention.
  • Selection of Questions: Because this exam is not easy, it is not possible to complete all of the questions in the allotted time. As a result, carefully select the questions you want to attempt. It’s critical to understand your strengths and weaknesses in this area. If you are proficient in algebra, for example, recognise and attempt all algebra questions first. This will give you a leg up on the competition in terms of time and confidence for the remaining questions.
  • Sectional timing: Because of the limited time and negative marking, the choice of questions is crucial. Make no educated guesses or approximations. Students frequently make reckless estimates in the Verbal Ability section, so be cautious. It is a little easier to use Quantitative Aptitude even if you are unfamiliar with the idea, but be cautious when guessing; you may not reach a specific solution.
  • Don’t hesitate: Keep in mind that time is running out. You can get stuck on a question from an area where you excel. Don’t waste your time trying to crack it if you can’t. Move on to the next question, and if time allows, return to it later. You don’t want to lose out on a question that would have earned you the same amount of points.

Detailed Study plan

  • Identify Strong & Solidify Weak Areas – Strengthen the areas of the IPMAT Exam where you excel. Also, as much as feasible, revise weak topics. In revision, don’t forget about any subject and go over all of the issues.
  • Time Management with Speed – Time management is essential for exam achievement, especially in mains exams. You have adequate time to attempt questions in this exam, but a strong time management plan combined with quickness will make you unstoppable.
  • Shorts Notes – Make a list of short tricks, important formulas, and important Quant and English concepts. Taking short notes also allows you to have a quick revision.
  • Previous Years Question Papers: Go over at least three to four previous year papers and try to grasp them. This activity will assist you in understanding the pattern of questions, particularly in the Verbal Ability portion, and you will be able to revise the relevant points based on their weightage. Understanding previous year’s question papers is the most effective way to identify weak areas and work on them.
  • Mock test – Take a sectional test and a mock test extremely seriously. Analyse them thoroughly and correct your errors. One of the golden rules of success is to learn from your errors.
