JEE Main Dress Code 2022: NTA released the admit card for JEE Main 2022 session 1 on June 21, 2022, on the official website. JEE Main session 1 started on June 23 and continued till June 29, 2022. The authority conducted Session 2 from July 21 to 30, 2022. All candidates appearing for the exam must read the instructions provided in this article and learn about the JEE Main dress code before appearing for the exam. It will be relevant for the 2023 JEE Main exam as well.

Along with the JEE Main admit card, the conducting body also released the JEE Main guidelines. In the JEE Main exam centre, thick-soled shoes, headgear, scarves, stoles, jewellery, and metallic things are prohibited. Dress Code for JEE Mains 2022: What To Wear and What Not?

The NTA has not released specific guidelines on the JEE Mains 2022 dress code. However, it is recommended that candidates follow the below-mentioned guidelines for a comfortable exam-taking experience. Check the section for details on the dress code for male and female candidates.

JEE Main 2022 Dress Code For Male Candidates

Male candidates appearing for the exam are advised to go through the JEE Mains dress code guidelines below.

  1. Male candidates are strongly advised against wearing any cloth consisting of metallic items. Metallic items can cause problems during frisking; thus, they must avoid—for example, belts, wallets, etc.
  2. Candidates are advised to wear half sleeves and comfortable clothes to avoid any problems while writing the exam. Avoid clothes with drapes.
  3. Candidates must not wear a cap/ muffler or any cloth over their heads.
  4. Wearing any jewellery or ornaments is strictly prohibited.
  5. Candidates must not wear goggles, rings, bracelets, or any such items in the exam hall.
  6. Candidates must not wear hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, and mufflers.
  7. Candidates wearing shoes will have to face prolonged checking procedures. So, try to wear sandals or slippers.

JEE Main 2022 Dress Code for Female Candidates

Female aspirants appearing in the JEE Main 2022 exam must follow the below-mentioned JEE Main 2022 dress code for appearing in the exam.

  1. Female candidates must wear light and comfortable clothes considering the season and weather on the exam day.
  2. Candidates must not wear metallic items or any cloth/ items containing metal— like belts, underwired bras, etc.
  3. Normal T-shirt and jeans, or top/ kurta with leggings are advisable. Cotton, Khadi, and other breathable fabrics must be preferred.
  4. Candidates must not wear any jewellery, ornaments, goggles, rings, bracelets, etc.
  5. Do not wear fancy stoles, scarfs, caps, watches, sunglasses, etc.
  6. Do not wear long-sleeved clothes or trousers with too many pockets.
  7. Candidates must avoid wearing hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, stoles, and shawls.
  8. Candidates wearing shoes have to face prolonged checking procedures. So, try to wear sandals or slippers.
  9. Try not to wear clothes with big buttons and badges.
  10. Complicated hairstyles like a bun will lead to a longer frisking session.

JEE Mains 2022 Dress Code: List of Barred Items

Candidates must avoid carrying the below-mentioned items on exam day.

  1. Metallic Objects
  2. Purse Or Handbags
  3. Electronic Gadgets – Calculators, Slide Rules, Camera, Mobile, Smartwatches, Etc.
  4. Water and Eatables
  5. Any Digital/ Smartwatch
  6. Any Stationery Materials Like Paper, Books, Notebooks, Etc.

Note: Candidates appearing for the B.E. Architecture test (Paper 2) are allowed to carry a geometry box set, pencils, erasers, colour pencils, and crayons.

Things To Carry for JEE Main Centres 2022

Candidates are advised to carry the following documents/things to the JEE Main test centres.

  1. The hard copy of JEE Main hall ticket.
  2. One passport-size photograph.
  3. One Photo ID proof – PAN Card, driving license, voter ID, passport, or Aadhaar card (With Photograph).
  4. One hand sanitiser of 50 ml.
  5. Transparent ball pen.
  6. PwD certificate issued by the authority if claiming relaxation under the PwD category.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Day Guidelines

Candidates are advised to follow the exam-day guidelines below before appearing for the JEE Main exam.

  1. Candidates must maintain the code of conduct during the exam. They must not indulge in any malpractice.
  2. Candidates will not be allowed to appear in the exam without a hard copy of admit card, photograph, and photo ID proof.
  3. Candidates are advised to reach the exam venue at least one hour early to avoid the last-minute hassle.
  4. Candidates must visit the exam venue one day before the exam date to know the route and travel time to avoid unavoidable conditions on exam day.
  5. Any conversation, gesture, or disturbance in the examination hall shall be considered misbehaviour.
  6. NTA will not be responsible for re-testing candidates under any circumstance.
