NTSE Scholarship 2023: The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholarship exam for Class 10 students to encourage higher studies in Science and Social Science. NTSE Scholarship 2023: Important Details

NTSE (National Talent Search Exam) is a national-level scholarship exam that seeks to identify and nurture students’ skills, mental abilities, and logical reasoning. The NTSE exam is held in two stages; Stage I is conducted at the state level, while Stage II is held at a national level.

Stage I is conducted by SCERT or equivalent authorities at the state level, while Stage II is conducted by NCERT at the national level. As mentioned earlier, only those students who qualify in the Stage I round can appear for the Stage II exam.

The top 1000 deserving students who qualify with the highest marks (both Stage I and Stage II marks combined) are provided financial assistance through monthly scholarships for their higher education. NTSE Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The NTSE eligibility criteria are defined by NCERT and differ for every stage. The criteria are also different for regular and distance learning students.   • Only students of Class 10 in any recognised school, including students under Open & Distance Learning, can apply.
  • The student must be an Indian Citizen.
  • The students must be below the age of 18.
  • There are no domicile restraints, so students from any state or UT can apply.
  • The students should not be involved in any employment.

NTSE Scholarship 2023: Eligibility Criteria for Abroad Students

Students who are pursuing their education abroad can also attempt the NTSE exam by agreeing to the following conditions:

  • The students studying abroad must be an Indian National.
  • The students pursuing their class 10 or similar class do not have to appear for stage-I and can directly appear for stage-II examinations.
  • The students must receive a minimum of 60% in class 9 examinations.
  • The students must opt for an examination centre in India only.

How to Fill the NTSE Application Form 2023?

Students should follow the right process to fill out the NTSE application form. This ensures they fill in all the details and submit the form correctly. The below-mentioned steps are to be followed while filling out the NTSE registration form 2023:

  • Download them from the official SCERT website. Open school students must get the application form from the respective State/UT Liaison officers.
  • Fill in the application form’s basic details, such as your name, date of birth, gender, caste, address, family income, and academic details.
  • Upload a scanned copy of your recent passport-sized photograph and signature in JPG or PNG format. Affix these on the application form if filled offline.
  • Pay the application fee for your respective states online. (Offline for open school students).
  • Download the application forms and get them attested by your respective school Principal.
  • After verifying the details, the schools must send the application forms to the respective Liason Officers.
  • Open School Students can submit the filled application forms to the respective Liason Officer.

NTSE Registration

Documents Required for NTSE 2023 Registration

Before the students begin to fill out the NTSE form 2023, they need to keep the below-mentioned documents ready with them to save time and chaos:

NTSE Admit Card 2023

The NTSE admit card for stage 1 will be issued by the official authorities of the respective state and UTs. Furthermore, the admit card for stage 2 will be issued on the official website of NCERT. The admit cards will be released a few weeks before the exam starts.

Once released, students attempting the examination can download their NTSE stage 1 and stage 2 admit cards from the official website.

Steps to Download the NTSE Admit Card for 2023

  • Go to the official website of NCERT: ncert.nic.in
  • Go to “Programmes” and click “National Talent Search Examination” from the menu.
  • Click on “Admit card for NTS Stage I Examination – 2023”.
  • Fill in the essential details such as roll number, date of birth, etc., and click “Submit”.
  • The admit card will be displayed on the screen. Download the admit card and save it for future reference.

NTSE Exam Centres 2023

The NTSE Exam centres will be mentioned in the candidates’ admit cards. NCERT has allotted a total of 37+ exam centres for conducting NTSE. Usually, the exam is conducted at Kendriya Vidyalaya schools of major cities/capital cities of a state.

NTSE Scholarship Selection Process

NTSE is a 2 stage selection process exam; candidates must qualify in both stages to get the scholarship. States / UTs do stage I selection after a written examination. Students who qualify for Stage-I can appear for the Stage II examination by NCERT. Qualifying marks of candidates from the General category is 40% in every paper, and for the candidates from SC, ST, and PH, it is 32% in each paper.

NTSE Exam Pattern 2023

NTSE Exam is held in two stages – Stage I and Stage II. Stage I exam is conducted at the state level by SCERTs and equivalent authorities of various states and union territories.

NTSE Stage 2 exam is held at the national level by NCERT. Only Stage I qualifiers and Indian nationals studying abroad (exempted from the stage I exam) can attend stage II. Both the Stage I and Stage II exams have the same exam pattern. Only the difficulty level of questions asked in stage II will be much higher than in stage II.

Some important points to remember about the NTSE Exam Pattern are given below:

  • Both stages of the examination are conducted offline, i.e. pen and paper.
  • The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and the responses must be marked on OMR sheets provided in the examination hall.
  • Students can opt to give the Stage-I exam in English or any other regional language. The Stage II exam will be conducted in English or Hindi only.
  • Both stage 1 and stage 2 of the NTSE exam consist of two sections- The Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).
  • The MAT and SATs will be held on the same day in two slots.
  • The MAT will be conducted in the morning from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, while SAT will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
  • In the NTSE exam, each question carries 1 mark, with no negative marking. The difficulty level for NTSE exams is considered moderate.

NTSE Syllabus 2023

The NTSE Exam Syllabus is divided into the MAT syllabus and SAT syllabus. The MAT paper evaluates the candidate’s subject knowledge and problem-solving abilities in areas such as logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, critical thinking, etc.

It consists of questions based on patterns, encoding-decoding, series, block assemblies, hidden figures and soft skills. The SAT paper tests the student’s science, Social Science, and mathematics knowledge. The syllabus for SAT is the same as the syllabus prescribed for CBSE Class 9th and 10th by NCERT.

NTSE Scholarship Amount 2023

The exemplary students shortlisted after clearing both stages will be awarded scholarships monthly. Only the top 1000 students have recently held a chance to obtain this scholarship, and NCERT provides the merit list. NTSE 2023 Results

The steps to check NTSE 2023 Results are as follows:

NTSE Expected Cut-off Marks 2023

The cut-off for Stage-I NTSE will be announced state-wise by concerned SCERT authorities. The states and UTs will release the expected cut-off list after the results are declared. However, the cut-off for Stage II will be the same throughout India, and NCERT will decide the same. Only students who clear the state-level cut-offs in Stage I can attempt Stage II, a national-level exam.
