SSC CGL Eligibility 2023: Nationality

The SSC CGL Criteria for Nationality requires a candidate to be a resident of only the countries listed below. An applicant must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • A citizen of India
  • A citizen of Nepal
  • A citizen of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee settled in India before January 01, 1962
  • Indian by origin, who has migrated to Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam, intending to stay permanently in India.

Note: A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination, but the offer of appointment will be given only after the eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.”

Advantages of Reservation under ESM Category for SSC CGL

Every candidate should be aware of the reservation benefits associated with the Ex-servicemen called ESM Category:

  • Suppose ex-servicemen in the Central Government’s “Group C” and “Group D” have previously received reservation benefits for re-employment in a civilian position. In that case, they are not eligible for ESM Category reservation. They will be eligible for this particular reservation only if they submit to their current employer a self-declaration with all relevant details of former civil employment.
  • Having the status of ex-serviceman is essential to enjoy the benefits of this reservation. The ex-serviceman status must be obtained within a year after the last application receipt and must be backed by factual and documentary evidence from the appropriate authority.
