CLAT 2023: Check Application Form, Admit Card Details

CLAT 2023: The Consortium of National Law Universities organised the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which is a national-level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law courses. The last date to submit the CLAT 2023 application form is till November 18, and the exam will be conducted on December 18, 2022.

Once candidates successfully submit the application form, they will be eligible to download the CLAT 2023 admit card for UG and PG exams from the official website of National Law Universities. Moreover, out of 23 National Law Universities, only 22 will accept CLAT scores, while Delhi NLU will conduct a separate entrance test. CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2023

The candidate’s application can be cancelled at any time during the admission procedure if the candidate is found to be ineligible for the examination. Qualifying Examination Appearing Candidates UG Level:
Candidates who are having the 12th or equivalent exam in March/April 2023 are eligible to appear in the exam. They will have to provide the 12th or equivalent mark sheet at the time of admission.

PG Level:
Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2023 are eligible to appear in the CLAT entrance exam. They will have to provide the graduation or equivalent final year mark sheet at the time of admission.

CLAT Application Form 2023

The authorities released the application form for the CLAT exam 2023 on August 08, 2022, on the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities. Candidates appearing in the final year exam can also fill out the CLAT Application Form. The application forms can be filled out online by the candidates on the official website of the NLU consortium.

Candidates can register for CLAT PG 2023 by paying a registration fee of Rs. 4000/- for General category candidates and Rs. 3500/- for SC/ ST category. Candidates must read all the application guidelines and instructions carefully before applying for the exam. To fill out the application form for CLAT, follow the given steps:

Steps to Fill out CLAT Exam Application Form 2023

Here is a step-by-step process on how aspirants can fill out the CLAT 2023 application form:

  • Visit the official website of the Consortium of NLU- https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/
  • Click on the candidate’s registration link which appears at the top of the page.
  • Now, fill in the necessary details such as your personal mobile number and e-mail ID to register on the website.
  • After submitting, an OTP will be generated on the registered mobile no. for validation.
  • The candidate must log in from the registered mobile no. or email address.
  • Fill in all the necessary details after login.
  • Now click on submit (no further editing will be allowed after entering the details).
  • Then enter the preference order for all 22 NLUs as per the candidate’s preference.
  • Now upload all the necessary documents.
  • Once you submit the form, the fees payment page will appear; the fees can only be paid online by net banking/ credit card/ debit card options. The fee for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI candidates is INR 4000; for the SC/ST/BPL category candidates, it is INR 3500. 
  • After submitting the fees, the candidate will have to save the CLAT 2023 application form and take a printout of the application form for future reference.

CLAT Application Form 2023: Documents To Be Uploaded 

The documents are not required to be attested by the authority at the time of uploading, as per the guidelines of CLAT 2023. All the documents to be uploaded should be in pdf format only. Candidates applying for CLAT PG 2023 exam need to upload the documents also. The list of the necessary documents to be uploaded on the website to fill out the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) application form is given below: 

  • Signature of the candidate.
  • Passport-size photo of the candidate.
  • Category certificate if the candidate belongs to the SC/ST/OBC category. 
  • Certificate issued by the competent authority if the candidate is applying under the PWD category.
  • Certificate issued by the competent authority if the candidate is applying under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. 

CLAT Exam Centres 2023

The Consortium of NLUs has increased the number of test centres. Therefore, the CLAT 2023 will now be conducted all over India in 85 exam centres. The candidate will have the option to choose the exam centre as per their choice to appear in the exam. The CLAT exam centres were allotted as per the candidate’s choice. In case of a limited number of seats, the decision regarding the allotment of the exam centre will be in the hands of the conducting body. After the final submission of the Common Law Admission Test 2023 application form, the candidates will not be allowed to change the exam centre as no alterations will be allowed on the website.

CLAT Admit Card 2023

The Consortium will release the CLAT examination 2023 admit card in online mode. Candidates can download the CLAT admit card online from the official site, i.e., consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The candidates need to enter their application/ registration number and date of birth on the site to download the admit card for Common Law Admission Test 2023. Moreover, they can even download the hall ticket through the login.

The hall ticket is one of the most important documents for the exam. Without the admit card, the test centre officials will not allow any candidate to enter the examination hall. Therefore, the candidates must bring a print of admit card to the test centre. The hall ticket contains all the important information, including the candidate’s name, roll number, test centre, test timings, etc.

  • Visit the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities.
  • Then, click on the link ‘Click here to download the admit card’.
  • On the next window, enter the registration/ application number and password to download the admit card for CLAT 2023.
  • Next, the Common Law Admission Test admit card will appear on the screen.
  • Finally, the candidates can download the CLAT admit card and take a printout for future reference.

CLAT Subject-wise Syllabus 2023 (UG Level)

Candidates need to understand the detailed syllabus of CLAT 2023 before appearing in the exam. The syllabus will include topics like constitutional law, jurisprudence and other subjects such as contract, torts, criminal law etc. The subject-wise details of the CLAT 2023 syllabus for the UG level are as given below: 

  • English Language – In this section of the UG-CLAT 2023, candidates will be provided paragraphs of about 450 words each. These paragraphs will be derived from current or historically significant writing and would be of the 12th board level. Questions will be based on the passage.
  • Current Affairs, including General Knowledge – In this section, candidates will be provided paragraphs of up to 450 words each. The paragraphs may be derived from news, journalistic sources and any non-fiction writing. The questions may include an examination of legal information or knowledge discussed in the passage but would not require any additional knowledge of the law beyond the passage.
  • Legal Reasoning – In this section, Candidates will be expected to read paragraphs of around 450 words each. The paragraphs will relate to fact scenarios involving legal matters, public policy or moral philosophical enquiries. Candidates do not require any prior knowledge of the law to solve such questions.
  • Logical Reasoning – The Logical Reasoning section of the CLAT UG 2023 will include a series of small passages of about 300 words each. Each paragraph will be followed by one or more questions.
  • Quantitative Techniques – The Quantitative Techniques section of the UG CLAT 2023 includes short sets of facts-based questions, graphs, or other textual, diagrammatic presentations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions.

CLAT Subject Details (PG Level)

Similar to the UG-CLAT, the questions in the PG-CLAT are based on the passages provided in the question paper. The question paper will have objective and subjective questions. Subjective questions will only be checked if a candidate scores 40% on an objective paper. The details are given below:

  • Objective Section: In this section of the PG-CLAT 2023, candidates will be provided with paragraphs from primary legal materials such as important court decisions in various statutes or regulations and fields of law. Each passage will be followed by a series of questions to test candidates’ legal understanding.
  • Descriptive Section: For CLAT 2023, this section will not be evaluated as the exam pattern has been modified keeping in view the COVID-19 situation. In this section of the PG-CLAT 2023, candidates will be required to write essays. Candidates have to answer any 2 questions from the list of questions given. The answers must not exceed 800 words each. The candidate must have a good legal understanding and the ability to structure the answers.

CLAT Sample Paper 2023

The sample papers for CLAT 2023 are available in both online and offline modes. CLAT Exam Day Instructions 2023

To have a smoother experience while appearing for the test, all aspirants must ensure that they are following the exam-day instructions. Below are some of the instructions that each aspirant will need to follow:

  • The candidates are suggested to reach the CLAT 2023 exam centre half an hour before the reporting time as mentioned on the CLAT 2023 admit card.
  • The students who have the CLAT exam centre out of their home town are suggested to reach the exam centre city at least one day before the exam.
  • The candidates will not be allowed inside the exam centre after the commencement of the exam timing as mentioned on the CLAT 2023 admit card.
  • The students will not be allowed to carry any of the following in the CLAT exam centre such as laptops, iPods, smart watches, any kind of Bluetooth device, calculators, mobile phones, etc.
  • The candidates are advised not to carry any book or notes book to the CLAT 2023 exam centre, as they will be strictly prohibited inside the CLAT 2023 exam centre. 

CLAT Answer Key 2023

The answer keys for CLAT 2023 have been released on the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities on June 20, 2023. The answer keys are the list of correct answers released for the applicants after the exam, as per the exam question paper. The candidates are advised to check the answers they have attempted in the exam to get an estimate of the marks they may score in the exam. 

CLAT Result 2023

The result of CLAT 2023 was issued on the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities on June 24. The CLAT result was declared online only and the applicants could check the result by entering their registration number and password. After the declaration of the CLAT 2023 result, the merit list was also released online.

CLAT Merit/ Rank List 2023

The merit list for the CLAT 2023 exam will be issued after the declaration of the result. The CLAT 2023 merit list shows the scores that the listed colleges will accept to take admission of the applicants in their college. The merit list will be issued on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the CLAT exam 2023. 

CLAT Cut-off 2023

The cut-off of CLAT 2023 is the minimum score below which the applicants will not get admission to the college. The CLAT 2023 cut-off will be issued online. In order to get admission to the listed colleges, the applicants need to score equal to or above the cut-off marks as per the college cut-off. The applicants of the Common Law Admission Test will not get admission to any college below their cut-off marks. The cut-off list is issued after the declaration of the CLAT 2023 result. All the colleges which accept the score for the CLAT exam 2023 will release their cut-off list. The cut-off list was issued as per the category or as per the colleges.

CLAT Counselling 2023

The counselling for the CLAT 2023 is conducted soon after the results are announced. The applicants who will score equal to or above the CLAT cut-off 2023 will be eligible to attend the counselling rounds. The eligible applicants will get an invitation online to attend the counselling round.

The Common Law Admission Test 2023 counselling will be done in online mode only through the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities. The selection of CLAT 2023 will be done on the basis of the merit list. The counselling will be followed after the applicant’s preference of college, seat allotment, college fees submission and the document verification of the selected candidates. 

CLAT Seat Allotment 2023

The seat allotment of the CLAT 2023 will be done by the conducting authority of the exam. The seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of the merit list released online on the official website. The applicants of CLAT 2022 will not have any editing option after registering their choice online on the official website. For both postgraduate and undergraduate levels, the seat allotment of CLAT 2023 will be done after the counselling.

The result of the CLAT 2023 seat allotment will include details like the rank of the candidate at the All India level, the category of the candidate, the exam registration number of the candidate, admit card roll number of the candidate, and the status of admission. The selected candidates for the Common Law Admission Test 2023 will have to submit the fees as per the college and provide the required documents in the allotted college after the seat allotment round. And, if the candidate wishes to withdraw their name from the Common Law Admission Test 2023 admission list, they can do so to cancel their admission before the subsequent rounds.

CLAT Participating Institutes 2023

The applicants who have applied for the CLAT entrance exam should know the name of the University which accepts the score of the exam. It is important to remember that there are 23 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. Out of these, 22 NLU will accept the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2023 scores, scheduled to be held on December 18, in offline mode. NLU Delhi is the only university that conducts a separate law entrance exam, popularly known as the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). Moreover, over 60 affiliated universities will use the CLAT score for admission.
