CLAT Counselling 2022: Dates, Seats, Document Verification

CLAT Counselling 2022: The Consortium of National Law Universities started the counselling for the applicants of CLAT 2022 on June 25, 2022. CNLU publishes the invite list for CLAT counselling on the official website. The candidates who cracked the CLAT 2022 had to register online for the counselling process, provide fresh preferences for the colleges and complete payment of counselling fees of Rs.50,000/-.

The invitation list for CLAT counselling contains five times the number of available seats in the 22 participating NLUs. A candidate is required to fill a minimum of five NLU preferences during the CLAT counselling registration process. CLAT Counselling 2022 — Steps to be Followed

The applicants who were shortlisted after the declaration of the result are sent the call letters for online registration of counselling. The counselling information is uploaded on the Consortium website as well. Candidates can log in to their CLAT account and register for the counselling process. The registration process includes the following 2 steps:

  • Step 1: Update the NLU preferences: The candidates can provide fresh preferences, or they can stick to the preferences provided during the application process. The final seat allotment is based on the rank of the candidate in CLAT 2022 and the choices of NLUs provided.
  • Step 2: Make an online payment of Rs.50,000/-; The candidates must pay a counselling fee to complete the counselling registration process. The candidates who have not paid the counselling fee due to any issue by October 7 will not be considered for seat allotment.

What After CLAT Counselling Fees Payment?

After the payment of the counselling fee, the first admission list is released by CNLUs. Candidates have the following options:

  • Accept the Allotted Seat (Locking the Seat): The candidates who have accepted the seat will not be considered for the next seat allotment round; they must pay the admission fee and complete the document verification process.
  • Apply for Upgrade: Candidates who are unsatisfied with the seat allotment and want further upgrades should use this option. Only candidates who have taken the admission, paid the requisite fee, and uploaded the documents in the allotted NLU will be considered for up-gradation.
  • Exit from CLAT Admission Process: If a candidate chooses this option, he/she will forfeit the allotted seat and will not be considered for any subsequent round of counselling. If the candidates who have been allotted seats in the First to fourth seat allocation list and want to withdraw their provisional admission, they shall do it on or before a given date; after the said date, INR 10,000/- will be deducted from the CLAT Counselling fee for blocking the seat.

CLAT 2022 Counselling — Publication of Second Admission List

The second list is published on the official website after applicants’ seat locking and up-gradation. A list of awaited applicants who were waiting for their seat allotment after the first round is also released. If their names are found in the second list, they will have to submit the admission fee and complete the admission process.

CLAT 2022 Counselling — Withdrawal of Seat

The applicants who do not wish to take admission as per the allotted NLU can withdraw their fees within the specified time limit, or they can simply not deposit the fees if they do not wish to take admission to the allotted college.

Suppose the applicant withdraws the fees after the successful submission within the specified time as provided. In that case, the amount of INR 10,000 is deducted as the processing fees from the submitted fees, and the remaining INR 40,000 is refunded back to the applicant’s bank account. 

The same process is followed in the final round of counselling. After the seat allotment, all the applicants are advised to save the copy and take out the print of the allotment list for future reference. 

Important Note:

  1. After the final round, applicants must report to the allotted NLUs along with the documents and certificates required for the CLAT 2022 admission.
  2. The applicants are advised to follow the eligibility criteria for CLAT 2022 admission strictly. If, after CLAT 2022, the applicants are found not to fulfil the eligibility criteria, then their admission will be cancelled by the NLU. After deducting Rs 10,000, the remaining fee will be refunded.

Important Points To Remember for CLAT Counselling 2022

The points to remember are as given below: 

  1. The candidates must submit all the original documents after the counselling.
  2. The counselling is only conducted online mode by the conducting body for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  3. The applicants are advised to be careful while selecting the choice of NLU. 
  4. The call letters of CLAT counselling do not confirm the applicant’s admission until the final seat allotment round.
  5. The applicants are advised to lock the option of the allotted college carefully, as the option cannot be withdrawn after opting for the lock option. 
  6. All the original documents of the applicants are returned after scrutinising by the NLUs.
