IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2023: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) prescribes the exam pattern for Probationary Officers (PO) in its official notification. IBPS Probationary Officer Test Pattern 2023

The IBPS PO Recruitment is conducted in three stages, i.e., Prelims, Mains and Interviews. The Prelims and Mains exams have different paper patterns. IBPS PO exam is conducted in the computer-based test mode. There is a sectional timing for each section in IBPS PO Prelims and Mains exams.

IBPS PO Prelims 2023 Exam Pattern

The IBPS PO Prelims exam is qualifying in nature and will be conducted to filter out the candidates for Mains Exam. The online Prelims examination will take place on September 23, 30, and October 1, 2023. The marks scored in the Prelims exam will not be considered to prepare for the final result. The candidates can check the detailed pattern for Prelims as given below:

Important Points:

  • The total time duration to complete the test is 1 hour. Also, 20 minutes are allocated to complete each section.
  • There are three sections in the prelims exam: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
  • There are separate sectional timings for each section.
  • One mark is awarded for every correct answer.
  • 0.25 marks are deducted from the wrong answer for every incorrect answer.
  • The exam paper is set in English and Hindi (Except for the English language).
  • All the questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Candidates must meet both sectional and overall cutoff to qualify for the IBPS PO Mains exam.

IBPS PO Mains 2023 Exam Pattern

The candidates who meet the sectional and overall cutoff for IBPS PO Prelims will be eligible to appear in the IBPS PO Mains exam. The cutoff will depend on the number of vacancies available. The Mains exam will take place on November 5, 2023. 

Before the completion of the interview process, the scores obtained in the Mains exam will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for the personal interview process. The total number of questions and the maximum marks for each section of the Mains exam are given below:

Important Points:

  • The maximum time to complete the test is 3 hours 30 minutes with a sectional time limit.
  • There are four sections in the main exam: English language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, and General Awareness.
  • For every incorrect answer, 1/4th of the marks are deducted.
  • The Main exam comprises objective type and descriptive type of questions.
  • The objective type carries 200 marks, whereas the descriptive type is 25 marks.
  • The total duration for the objective paper is 3 hours, and the descriptive paper is 30 minutes.
  • The number of questions asked in an objective paper is 155, whereas a descriptive paper comprises 2 questions (Letter writing and Essay Writing).

  • 3rd Step: Click on the menu bar “Getting a Government Job”. 
  • 4th Step: Select the Goal “Banking” from the Dropdown and click on “Next”.
  • 5th Step: Search and Select “IBPS PO Prelims” on the search bar and click on “Next”.
  • 6th Step: Select the preferred language and click on “Done”.
  • 7th Step: Click “Practice” from the Header Section.
  • 8th Step: Scroll down to the “Subjects” section.
  • 9th Step: Click on any IBPS PO Prelims subjects.
  • 10th Step: Scroll down to click on the chapters from the selected subject to begin the practice.

IBPS PO 2023 Interview Process

The candidates qualifying for the IBPS PO Mains exam will be called for the Interview rounds. The participating organisations will conduct the Personal Interviews separately in coordination with the Nodal Bank of each state. A separate admit card will be issued to the eligible candidates for the interview. The Personal Interview will be conducted for 100 Marks. The qualifying marks for the PI are 35% for the reserved category and 40% for others.

Note that the final selection of the aspirants will be made on the basis of their performances in both Main and Personal Interviews. The ratio of qualifying marks for the Online Mains exam and the Interview is 80:20, respectively. The candidates must score as high as possible in both the Mains exam and Personal interviews to ensure provisional allotment.

Candidates can check the list of documents produced at the time of the interview as mentioned below:

  • Printout of the valid Interview Call Letter.
  • Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate issued by the Competent Municipal Authorities or SSLC/ Std. X Certificate with DOB).
  • Photo ID proof
  • Marksheet or educational certificates.
  • Caste certificate, if applicable.
  • Income certificate, if applicable.
