Create a timetable: Once candidates get a clear idea about the exam pattern and syllabus of IBPS PO, start preparing a realistic timetable. Remember that there is no point in creating a timetable to which you cannot stick to. So, spend just 5-6 hours daily studying. Allocate more time for sections and chapters that you are weak at and keep less time for the chapters that you are quite aware of. Make sure you analyze the weak areas and give more time in your preparation plan.
Develop reading habits: Reading and writing play a crucial role in your IBPS PO Preparation. The sections such as English Language, General Awareness, and Computer Aptitude require a lot of reading and understanding. You must also take down notes while you read, jot down important points or an event which you come across. Read newspapers, magazines, books, yearbooks on a daily basis to gain knowledge on current affairs. Also, develop the habit of writing as the IBPS PO exam has a descriptive English Language section as well.
Clear the basics: Candidates must focus on learning basics that will help in a better understanding of the exams. This exam will test your analytical skill which requires basic knowledge of every concept and topic in the syllabus and the underlying theory behind them. For example, mugging formulas is not enough to score high in the Quantitative Aptitude section therefore, learning their derivations is important as well. Likewise, also understand the theory behind every chapter of the Reasoning Ability section. For the English Language section, you need to have a basic knowledge of English grammar.
Make Notes: For better retention of the information you learn, it is important that you take small notes for a better understanding of the concepts. It surely helps candidates to revise chapters before the exam. Jot down the information as and when you come across the important points while learning, This will help in retaining information for a long period of time.
Practice diligently: IBPS PO preparation will be incomplete if you do not practice regularly and rigorously. Solve IBPS PO practice questions for all the chapters. Start off with simple questions and move on to complex ones. Revise the chapters or concepts that you find difficult. Practicing IBPS PO previous year papers and model questions papers will help you to understand the type of questions asked in the exam.
Improve time management skills: Spending more time on questions that you do not know will lead to a lack of time for other questions that you know. Make sure of attempting questions that you know and move on to the difficult ones. Along with accuracy, you need to work on speed so that you can complete the entire paper before time. So, practice in a time-bound manner.
Revise regularly: You must include regular revision in your IBPS PO preparation plan. As you go on completing the syllabus, allocate time for revision of chapters and topics that you have already mastered. Otherwise, you will forget what you have learned before the actual exam. Be confident and revise the topics that you have already learned.
Take IBPS PO mock tests: Taking a mock test will help you understand the kind of question asked and improve test-taking skills. You also need to assess your performance in the IBPS PO mock tests and work on your weak areas.
