Candidates planning to appear for the MHT CET 2025 exam should fulfil the eligibility criteria. Some key aspects of the eligibility criteria are as below:
Nationality – Candidates applying for the exam should be Indian nationals.
Age Limit – There is no particular age limit to apply for the MHT CET exam.
Qualifying Examination – Candidates should have passed 10 + 2 (Class 12), an equivalent level of examination from a recognised board or university with the PCM group of subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). The candidate who clears this criterion can apply.
Qualifying Marks – In the qualifying exam being considered, the candidates should have scored at least 45% marks. However, the percentage of marks required for the reserved category is 40%.
NRI/OCI/PIO/Indian workers in Gulf Countries, Foreign National (FN) Candidates – Eligible candidates must have completed HSC or equivalent exams with Physics, Mathematics, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical, or Vocational subjects, with a minimum combined score of 45% in all of the subjects mentioned above.

Candidates Eligible for MHT CET 2025 Direct Admission
There is a special criteria benefit provided to candidates in the following list. Such candidates can be provided direct admission without appearing in the MHT CET 2025 exam –
Children of Non-resident Indians (NRIs)
Children of Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)
Children of a Person of Indian Origin (PIO)
Children of Indian workers from gulf countries.

Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra Candidates
Candidates who claim Maharashtra state candidature can do so if they fall under these conditions –
Candidates who have completed and passed class 12th/HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics (compulsory subjects) along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ any technical vocational subjects will be eligible to apply/ a candidate who is domiciled in Maharashtra or is born in Maharashtra. Candidates in the general category should score at least 45% marks, while reserved category candidates must acquire a minimum of 40% marks.
Candidates with either parent a domicile in Maharashtra and hold a domicile certificate.
Candidates whose father/mother is a team member of the government of India and has been posted for duty in Maharashtra.
Candidates whose father/mother is a retired Government of Maharashtra team member.
MHT CET Eligibility Criteria for Jammu and Kashmir Migrant
The following criteria apply to the migrants of Jammu and Kashmir:
Candidates must have appeared and passed the 10+2/HSC examination with compulsory subjects such as Physics and Mathematics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or technical vocational subjects.
Candidates with a Diploma in Engineering and Technology are also eligible for MHT CET.
Jammu and Kashmir candidates must be considered as OMS candidates.
Marks Requirement
Candidates applying for MHT CET 2025 must obtain a minimum of 50 per cent in 10+2 and will only be eligible to apply for the entrance test.
Also, candidates in the reserved category (OBC/SC/ST and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) must secure 45 per cent marks in 10+2.
Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry) – MHT CET Eligibility Criteria Engineering/Technology
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
They must have passed a Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology in the appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from the All India Council for Technical Education, or Central or State Government approved Institutions. Or
Candidates must have completed and passed B.Sc. Degree from University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities recognised university and have passed class 12th/HSC with Mathematics as a subject.
Also, they must have obtained at least 45 per cent marks, whereas candidates belonging to backward class categories and Persons with disabilities in Maharashtra State are required to secure 40 per cent marks.
MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2025: Wards of Defence Personnel
Here are some of the wards of Defence Personnel related eligibility requirements:
Residents of Maharashtra who are the spouses/partners/children of ex-defence military members.
Spouse or ward of a member of the armed forces who were being transferred to Maharashtra

Type and Eligibility Criteria
Home University
Type A – Candidates qualifying for SSC and HSC or Diploma in Engineering Examination from a recognised institution of Maharashtra and The candidate who has been born in Maharashtra or has a Domicile.
The place of passing the qualifying exam must be within the jurisdiction of the respective University area.
Type B – Candidates whose father or mother has domiciled in Maharashtra and has a domicile certificate.
The authority issuing the Domicile Certificate must be within the jurisdiction of the respective University area.
Type C – Those candidates whose father or mother is a team member of the Government of India and who has been posted in Maharashtra State before the last date for submission of the Application Form for CAP.
The place of posting of the father or mother of the candidate must be under the jurisdiction of the respective University area.
Type D – Candidates whose father or mother is a team member or retired team member of the Government of Maharashtra or Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.
The place of posting of the father or mother of the candidate or the location of the settlement of the father or mother, if retired or the place of the last posting if deputed outside Maharashtra within the jurisdiction of the respective University area.
Type E – For candidates of the first year passing the SSC/HSC exam from a recognised institution located in a disputed Maharashtra – Karnataka border area or from Maharashtra, residing in the disputed Maharashtra – Karnataka border area and whose mother tongue is Marathi.
Such candidates will be considered for the outside Home University or State Level Seat.
MHT CET 2025 Eligibility Criteria – Minority Candidature
Those candidates belonging to a particular Linguistic or Religious Minority Community from within the State and as prescribed by the government are eligible under this category.
Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature
The children of those citizens who are displaced from Jammu and Kashmir to any part of India or from unsafe border areas of Jammu and Kashmir to a safer place in Jammu and Kashmir from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities.
The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorism are eligible under this category.
