MHT CET Analysis of Previous Years’ Papers

This section presents the analysis of the MHT CET exam for the previous years

Analysis of MHT CET 2020

The exam authorities conducted the MHT CET 2020 exam in two shifts from October 3 to 5, 2020. Let us look at the subject-wise analysis for each shift below:

Candidates found the Physics paper conducted during the morning shifts for the first two days to be easy to moderately difficult. The Physics paper conducted during the last day’s morning shift was easy. Comparatively, candidates found the difficulty level of the Physics paper higher in the second shift. The Physics paper on the first day was moderately difficult in the second shift. On the second day, it was not easy. On the third day, it had an easy to moderate level of difficulty.

Candidates found Chemistry easy in general. Candidates who attended the papers in the second shift found the Chemistry papers conducted in the first two days easy to moderately difficult.

Like Chemistry, the Mathematics paper conducted in MHT CET 2020 was easy to moderately difficult. Except for the papers conducted in the first shift of October 4, 2020, and the second shift of October 5, 2020, which were easy to moderately difficult, the papers conducted in all the other shifts were easy.

MHT CET Analysis 2019

The overall difficulty level of the paper was easy to moderate. In the exam conducted across different slots, 60% of the question paper was found easy. More students found Chemistry difficult. There was an equal distribution of theoretical questions and numerical problems in Chemistry. Mathematics was the easiest and the difficulty level of questions asked in Physics was easy to moderate. Most of the questions asked in physics were based on formulas.

MHT CET Paper Analysis 2018

Candidates who attended the MHT CET Exam 2018, especially the ones who had also attended JEE Main 2018, from the question paper to be quite easy. In fact, candidates found the exam to be one of the easiest Engineering entrance examinations. Questions involving calculations were few in number, and there was no concern related to managing time in the exam hall

Suggestions for Preparation of Each Subject

In this section, we have provided tips to candidates to prepare for various subjects

Physics is a very complicated subject. This subject requires students to understand the concept clearly. There are a number of mathematical derivations and formulas in the subject. Questions in Physics are mostly concept based. Therefore it requires the candidates to regularly practice the questions in Physics to be able to get a hold on the subject. Instead of rote learning, candidates should sit with their pen and paper and work on deriving the solutions.

  • Going through the previous years’ question papers is very helpful. By referring to the previous years question papers, candidates understand what kind of questions they will be asked in Physics and how the answers to the questions were derived.
  • Since Physics is a tough subject, and being strong with the concept is essential to solve the questions in the subject, it is particularly necessary that students first NCERT go through the NCERT syllabus of classes 11 and 12 thoroughly. Only when they clearly understand the concepts in this textbook, should they proceed towards studying from the reference study materials.
  • During the preparation phase, candidates should allot some time to solve the numerical problems daily. This will strengthen their calculation skills.
  • Time management is an important factor. Candidates should make sure the they are keeping a tab of the time in the process of answering the questions. This practice in the preparation phase will benefit them at the time of the exam.

Many candidates find Chemistry tough and confusing but this is one subject in which candidates can score the highest marks in the MHT CET exam with just a little hard work.

  • Candidates will be asked questions in Chemistry mostly from their class 12 syllabus. So  it is necessary that candidates understand the concepts of Class 12 Chemistry clearly.
  • Numerical Chemistry is not very tough. Once candidates understand how the problems have been solved, with a little practice, they will be able to score good marks by solving these problems.
  • They shoud be clear with the basic concepts to understand the higher topics.

  • Mathematics is a subject that is entirely based on calculations. To score good marks in this section, candidates should resort to focus on practicing topics such as Ellipse, Hyperbola, Parabola, Trigonometry, Vectors, 3D and Integral Calculus. This will help candidates to improve upon their speed of calculation of the topics.
  • Candidates should keep separate copies for each subject and note down the formulas on them There are times when candidates know the approach to solving a problem but they cannot recall the formulas in the exam hall. Revising the formulas regularly will avoid the occurrence of this.
  • In addition, candidates are advised to practice questions regularly. The more they practice different types of questions, and revise the lessons and the formulas, with the concept formed, they will be able to discover various tips, tricks, memory methods, mnemonics and shortcuts to solve a problem. This will not only be an efficient mode of preparation but contributing to discovering new ways to solve a problem will bring “Eureka” moments to the candidates’ concepts of the subject and understanding the calculations of all equations and chemical reactions.

Tips To Note for Excelling in the Exam

Candidates who are preparing for the MHT CET exam 2022 are in their final stage of preparation as there is not much time remaining for the exams. In this phase, candidates look for some last minute suggestions that will help their hard work to bear fruit.

The previous years’ rank holders of MHT CET, 2019 and 2018 have shared their experiences with us, and what aspects helped them to ace their examinations. In this section, we have provided such tips that will be useful for the candidates who are in the final stage of preparation:

  • Reference study materials are definitely necessary for preparing for the exam. However, this comes later. In the preliminary stage, it is important to ensure that candidates have thoroughly understood the concepts that their prescribed textbooks of Classes 11 and 12 have to offer them.
  • While studying a chapter, if candidates come across a part that they do not understand clearly or have doubt in, they should immediately get it clarified by their teachers. Hesitating to ask questions and clarify their queries will be harmful to them. Embibe provides a platform to candidates to ask their doubts without any hesitation to our teachers. They can clarify their queries during the lecture and doubt clarification sessions.
  • Candidates must read definitions properly. Understanding the definitions will help them to get a grasp of the topics.
  • In order to excel in the exam and score good marks, it is important the candidate know all parts of the syllabus properly. If the candidates skip out on the parts that they find difficult, stay away from clarifying doubts, and then expect to score well in the exams, it would not be a practical approach.
  • Even if a candidate has covered the complete syllabus, one way to find out which are the areas that they should work harder at, is through practice. There is no substitute for practice.

Candidates can take free mock tests at Embibe for the MHT CET exams. The exams will cover questions from all the important topics. At the end of the exam, they will get an analysis of their performance. This will help them to identify their areas of strength and the ones in which they have to put additional effort.

  • Just knowing the answers as to how to solve the problem is not enough. Candidates must know that MHT CET is a Computer Based Test where the questions have to be answered in a very limited period of time. Therefore, candidates will have to be mindful of managing their time while answering the questions. The more candidates practise the solutions online, the more they will get a hang of the manner in which they should take the actual test. Initially, they will take more time to solve a problem but the more they practise, the more they will be able to manage their time better.
  • Practice not only enables candidates to manage their time better and get an idea of their level of preparation, but it also helps them to identify the important areas from each chapter, what questions they can expect for the exam and know the answers and the explanations for them. In the case of Mathematics, they can understand how to approach a problem to arrive at the solution.
