SBI Clerk Selection Procedure 2016
1) Preliminary Examination
The candidates will have to sit for an online objective test which will be for 100 marks. The duration of the test is 3 hours and the subjects are; English Language, Reasoning Ability and Numerical ability. To qualify, candidates need to secure passing marks in each of the three tests. The shortlisted number for the exam will be decided by the bank which will be around 20 times he numbers of vacancies subject to availability.
2) Main Examination
Only qualified candidates will be able sit for the main examination which will be for 200 marks with 2 hours and 40 minutes time duration. There will be negative markings for the wrong answers which means there will be a deduction of ¼ marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Here is a detailed structure for SBI Clerk 2016;

Except for the General English Test, the questions in objective tests will be bilingual which means it will be English and Hindi. There will be a 5 % relaxation on qualification marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates. For general candidates, the passing marks will be decided by the banks.
3) Interview (based on government’s approval):
Qualified candidates in the Main examination will be given a chance to sit for the interview. The interview will be based on the number of vacancies and those candidates with merit and who qualify with the high rank will be called for an interview. Maximum of 3 candidates will be called for each vacancy. For the final selection the candidates are required to score a minimum percentage decided by the bank. A 5 % relaxation for SC/ST/ OBC/PWD/XS category will be implemented.
4) Test of knowledge of official/ local language in SBI Clerk 2016
Candidates who are not proficient in official and/or local language would be disqualified. Those candidates who provides 10th standard mark sheet/certificate, giving the evidence they have studied official (local) language will not have to under go a language test. In case the candidate hasn’t given any language test, it will be conducted at the time of interview or before final selection, based on whether the interview is held or not.
5) Final procedure of Selection for SBI Clerk 2016
It is to be noted that the Preliminary Examination marks will not be taken into consideration during the selection process for SBI Clerk 2016. Only the marks obtained in the Main Examination will be added to the marks obtained during the Interview, and that too if its held by the conducting body.The merit will be prepared on the basis of the final marks, which will be the sum of Main Exam and Interview round marks.
