SBI Clerk Eligibility: Nationality

Candidates must be either:

  • Citizenship of India
  • A subject of Nepal and Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in the country
  • Persons of Indian origin who have migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya.

Note: Candidates other than permanent citizens of India must obtain the eligibility certificate approved by the Government of India.

SBI Clerk Eligibility: Educational Qualification

Following are the detailed qualification requirements that a candidate must fulfil in order to be eligible to appear in this exam:

  • The candidate must be a graduate with a 3 or 4 years degree in any discipline.
  • Candidates must have secured at least 50% in Class 10 and degree courses from a recognised university.
  • Candidates who are in the final year of their degree can take the exam, but they must produce proof of passing the exams with at least 50% marks at the time of joining and should pass it before the SBI Clerk exam date.
  • They need to be well versed in official and local languages.
  • Candidates with an integrated dual degree (IDD) must have a qualifying date on the degree prior to SBI Clerk exam date.
  • Must be well-versed in the English language, both in reading and writing.

SBI Clerk Eligibility: Age Limit

Candidates’ age must not be below 20 years and not above 28 years as of the conducting year of the exam.

Age relaxation is one of the various provisions made for a reserved class. Candidates from the reserved category benefit from age relaxation based on their category.

Who Cannot Appear for SBI Clerk Prelims?

  • Candidates who are working in the SBI in Clerical or Officer Cadre are not eligible to apply.
  • Also, candidates who have earlier worked with the SBI as an office or a clerk and have resigned due to any reason cannot apply for this post.
  • Candidates with a record of an adverse report regarding his/her character or other things are not eligible for this recruitment.
  • Candidates with a history of loan defaults, credit card debts or an adverse report from CIBIL or any other agency will not be appointed to the clerk position after selection.
