CDS Notification 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the UPSC CDS recruitment 2023 notification on its official website on December 21, 2022. A total of 341 vacancies are released for Indian Air Force, Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Officer’s Training Academy. The CDS 1 result was released on May 4, 2023. UPSC released the CDS 2 application form on May 17, 2023.

Note:

  • The Combined Defence Services Examination is conducted to recruit candidates for the prestigious defence organisations of India.

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2023

Here are the CDS UPSC eligibility criteria specified in the notification, which candidates must meet to appear for the CDS Exam.

CDS Nationality

A candidate must be an unmarried Indian citizen or one among the following categories.

  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided the candidates in the categories mentioned above (except Indians) have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India, they will be considered eligible for the CDS exam.

Age Limit for the CDS Exam

How To Apply for UPSC CDS 2023?

UPSC releases the CDS application form online at its official website. Therefore, candidates have to fill in the CDS exam form online. Candidates can follow the steps as under to apply online for the CDS exam:

  • 1st Step: Visit the official website of the UPSC, i.e. upsconline.nic.in.
  • 2nd Step: Click on the notification “ONLINE APPLICATION FOR VARIOUS EXAMINATIONS OF UPSC”.
  • 3rd Step: Against the CDS II exam, click on ‘Part I Registration.‘
  • 4th Step: Fill in the personal, communication, and educational qualification details.
  • 5th Step: After finishing Part I, a registration ID will be generated.
  • 6th Step: Now go to Part II and enter the registration ID to pay the application fee.
  • 7th Step: Fill in the application form with personal, educational, contact, and other essential details.
  • 8th Step: Upload the scanned copy of the Photo, Signature, Photo ID, and mark sheet.
  • 9th Step: After finishing Part II, Click on ‘I Agree to the Declaration’ and submit the application form.
  • 10th Step: Take a few printouts of the application form for future reference.

CDS Application Fees

Candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs. 200/- except for Female/SC/ST candidates. Candidates can pay the application fee online or offline mode.

CDS 2023 Exam Pattern

As per CDS notification 2023, the CDS exam pattern is different for Officers Training Academy (OTA) and IMA, INA and AFA. The CDS exam pattern for the written examination is as given below:

Note that there will be negative markings for every wrong attempt. One-third of marks, i.e. 0.33 marks, will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

CDS SSB Interview

After the exam, candidates whose names are there in the merit list will receive the SSB call letter, where the reporting date and time for the SSB Interview will be mentioned. The aspirants must report to the SSB centre and pass all the tests. The SSB interview will last 5 days and include psychological and intelligence tests.

Once the candidate has cleared the SSB interview, they will be called for a medical check. After successful clearance, candidates will be sent to the respective academy. It will be mentioned in the official CDS notification 2023 that the candidates are required to submit their original documents before joining their respective academies.

CDS Exam 2023 Admit Card

The authority will release the CDS 2 exam e-admit card online on March 24, 2023. Therefore, candidates can download the CDS admit card from the official website of UPSC. It is to be noted that no CDS exam hall ticket will be sent to candidates by post.

CDS Exam 2023 Result

The CDS results are released in two stages: written exam and SSB Interview/Final. The CDS written exam result 2023 is announced first, followed by the final result declaration. Candidates will be selected for admission to various defence academies based on their performance in both rounds.
